NBA focuses too much on individuals and not teams which makes it even worse for the casual to cheer since major players leave teams and you have all these player fans and not team fans. And even with the teams too many people play the exact same way. Add season length and yeah...it's gonna be ugly.
(American) Football is king in the USA. Only Christmas days the NBA will have going forward is Tuesday and Wednesday cause Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday now are the NFLs. We know that if Christmas falls on a Friday, they gonna schedule a couple of games then too.
But blaming Goodell isn't who you need to pernt da finga at.....look at who's running NBC, CBS, Amazon, and ABC/ESPN. THEY WANT THESE GAMES ON THEIR NETWORK ON THE HOLIDAYS! THEY WANT THEM RATINGS TO CHARGE OUT THE ASS TO ADVERTISERS!

This has nothing to do with anything regionally or any type of regional disparity.
Everybody knows basketball is more ingrained in black culture than football. It goes beyond just the game on the court itself, football, the NFL does not have that same impact within the community outside of it being entertainment.
The NBA and basketball in general has always been much more close-knit to blackness ever since the 70s...there's been no point in time where the NFL culturally has ever had the appeal or impact within black culture. Never. This has been documented for many decades for reasons I mentioned before.
NFL culturally since it's existence has never been associated with blackness which is a reason why white conservatives love the NFL and bash the NBA (basketball in general) every chance they get.
Nobody whose a fan of sports cares about ratings as it has no impact on the game or which teams win contests...ratings and numbers are something corporate executives, etc discuss. Fans don't care about that as long as they get to see the games and cheer if their team wins.
This whole ratings discussion is right-wing political propaganda, the NBA since the 70s, Bird/Magic 80s era, MJ/90s, early 00s, etc has always had lower ratings compared to the NFL but suddenly within the past few years it's a big deal and a major topic of discussion and the reason for that is politics. The last time the NBA had ratings as high or equal to the NFL was during the late 40s, 50s, and 60s.
Basketball in America whether it's the NBA or WNBA has become a become a target of disdain among a certain type of crowd and the ratings discussion is one way to denounce the sport.

NFL rating reports are funny cause the league has done nothing but break records but people swore up and down that their boycotts (cacs thinking that the NFL was woke, ppl boycotting Kaep getting blackballed, and folks thinking football was dying cause of concussions) were working but neither made an impact, the only reason ratings have been down in the past 10 years were due to the Elections and Covid.
I understand and I agreed with most of your statement, but the issue is this site. This site has been on that bullshyt forever. A decade plus going back to the old site you have people who want to basically make the NBA fan base all black and the NFL fan base all white which isn’t true
cause there’s plenty of Black people that live in the south, or the middle of the country where football is their religion and basketball is something that they hardly care about and reverse of that. Is it plenty of White people that live in the north east region where basketball is there major love and football would be second/third to them

Folks saying ratings only matter to stans and corporations like ratings don't affect what's presented by the league and their partners. The old marketing players vs teams argument ilke Pat and Lamar and Josh Allen aren't household names and all over TV. Travis Kelce has more commercials than Bron does at this point plus the best athlete podcasts are all football cats. The NBA being more "popular across the globe", when it's not the NBA that's more popular it's the sport of basketball, and that's primarily because NFL is American based with some European pockets.
The NBA was closer when Stern was in office then Silver let the inmates run the asylum between the networks burying smaller markets and actively starting trade chatter to push players to NYC or LA AND teams openly losing and convincing their fans to cheer for it AND players deciding to treat it like AAU and stars only giving a fukk about playoffs because of hot take artists. Goodell focused on the product first and the players/owners comfort second. The games are better than they've ever been. The networks won't dare cross him the way they do with the NBA and have commentators openly discussing strategy during games and during half instead of picking fights with the stars like the TNT cats do. The players overall have made more money. The NFL is more tank proof because none of the players or coaches are fukking up their next gig for the front office/owners. The NFL actively promotes the fantasy infrastructures and have a secondary revenue stream of billions from FanDuel etc. He had a sneaky hand in getting flag football in the Olympics as a way to expand football in a realistic way globally.
To be blunt we need to watch the NBA less so they can start getting real about fixing shyt. I used to never miss games when it was about the games, but they turned the whole league into a soap opera.
