very much so. But you would be surprised there are a lot of black people in career positions throughout the DMV especially in IT, accounting, finance...networking, education or experience and skill set counts for a lot. Cacs gonna cac and racists are gonna race in the workplace wherever you go though but I think this area is decent as far as job opportunities and resources. It's more competitive but once you get your foot in for a job that you're qualified to do, you can maneuver from there. If you live out in NoVA, the predominantly black areas are going to be further away south from Rosslyn - (example Lorton, Woodbridge, Dumfries) still close enough to DC, far away from the predominately white areas but in the outskirts, where it is still considered Northern Va. Very nice houses and community developments - where most people commute to work in DC or MD from those places.

The job market here is very competitive. Especially for IT. :francis:

Please don't derail the threads with beef.

Let these threads just be about the cities and the cities alone.

who has the most posts itt?
who was the first to post an aggressive post towards another poster?

if you don't want threads derailed, bush her so she cant spoil decent threads with her pointless beefs

All rush hour traffic in the DMV is bad. It don't matter which highway or road you take. Be where you gotta be by 7 am and get out no later than 3pm.
Traffic is starting to be a 24/7 thing out here. I was out driving last night at 11:30PM and there were more people out and about than I would think on a Sunday night.

I was on 395 S heading to Arlington and this car made a complete stop on the freeway :mindblown: there was a car in front of me behind it so they hit their brakes and I had to hit my brakes hard. Thank God I don't drive aggressive cuz that woulda easily been an accident if I was going 80.

that's only if you work for the govt do you schedule your hours like that. That's not working for private sector. plan your day for a 9 to 5 and expect to not get home earlier than 7:30pm.
It's not just rush hour either:snoop:Not enough alternate streets and lanes to handle the volume. I've seen traffic from Landover Rd to Greenbelt on Sundays after 4 and going south past Potomac Mills any day of the week.
Why do two lanes roads still exist and why do 4 lane highways merge into a one lane exit ramp in 2019- they couldn't widen them to 4 at least. That's why they're are always accidents and fender benders or traffic buildups .
:mindblown:

The bolded is spot on. Replace the Eiffel Tower with the Washington Monument and you have DC.

I wish we could still have two ratings as I would have given DC an 8.5/10 (but here I gave it a 9).

Pros:
-Diverse, international and powerful city
-4 hrs from NYC, 1 hr from Bmore, 2 hours from Philly
-Well educated, attractive black women, shout out HU
-Very diverse African and Afro-Caribbean crowd
-Growing restaurant and arts scene
-Good public transportation in DC proper
-Good nightlife with a little bit of everything
-Some of the best public schools in the country are within the area
-Pretty strong economy

Cons
-Still a relatively small city and lacks scale at times. Not as big as NYC. Nightlife can be restricted really to a couple of areas
-The presence of the government does make the city quite "buttoned" up. People can be rather pretentious and don't know how to "let loose". Dudes be too full of themselves sometimes.
-City is getting mad white-washed. There be hella lames out on U-Street :unimpressed:
-Since the city is still really growing, there can be a lack of "organic" culture.

Overall, top tier American City

The organic culture is being gentrified out. Local DC has always had culture, don’t confuse it with Washington/downtown.

Tbh i I like DC without any skyscrapers. It reminds me of an American Paris.

I've always thought of D.C. as a European city transplanted in America. It also feels like an East Coast version of San Francisco. TBH, I prefer it over New York City now as a grown man. It's the perfect balance of everything you want in a major city. You can have the time of your life in D.C. but, there's also plenty of places to chill. I stayed in New York for like 12 days last fall and it just reminded how much I couldn't live like that for years on end.

I have lived here since Feb 2015. I like it...I give it 8. Cost of living is just too damn high.

In LA I get why the COL is high...you're near both the beach and the mountains. In NY, it's the media capital of the world.

I know DC is the nations capital and the government center, but that doesn't justify the cost imo. Still...I'm probably going to stay here until I retire then relocate somewhere in the Carolinas.

Yep. Same thing I say. You got some spots in Shaw going for $1,800. My sister pays $1,500 for a nice spot in Park Slope in Brooklyn. DC is nice, but you can't be charging NYC prices when you don't offer NYC level of entertainment
