Based on what happened at All In, he's 1000% right for not addressing it. Guessing they had a plan for it (maybe for Grand Slam or the PPV in October), but that went out the window as soon as Punk went full Punk.

Samoa Joe vs. MJF was apparently always the plan.

Matches have been good, and the feuds have been alright but there's something that seems to be missing from it. He hasn't had a prolific babyface (or I guess heel now) to feud against.

He just completely fukked them up at the end and got nobody over.

Also, I liked Omega’s heel title run. Especially after having him stuck in a tag team the first two years wasting him. Omega overall has been wasted in AEW but thats another story for another day.

He hasn’t raised the level of the belt whatsoever. It feels like nobody even really wants the thing, I can’t even remember who he’s defended the belt against besides Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, and Tanahashi. (Edit: Just looked it up, 7 defenses in 10 months is crazy smh)

Well you really can’t judge anyone in aew legit because khan is the worst booker to exist. Almost all of mjfs feuds are telegraphed, just like everyone else’s. Meaning you know they got no shot of winning and you probably already know what his next feud is gonna be before the one he’s in is even midway through.

We all know Samoa joe has no shot. So it’s a real waste.

The international or whatever the fukk belt: what’s the point of this? If they had better booking okay I guess, but then put the belt on someone who doesn’t get much tv time..nah book OC like Goldberg then give the belt to MOX. Pointless belt the way it is now

It's a mixed bag.

His PPV title defenses have all exceeded my expectations and has 1 classic during this run (the Iron Man against Dragon). And the Cole pairing gave Dynamite and AEW a breath of fresh air for close to two months -it sadly stopped in its tracks after All In- but I don't feel the title has been elevated after basically a 1 year run and even though MJF does feel like a much bigger than 12-18 months ago, his angles and feuds have not been "world title worthy".

I feel like he should drop the belt at Full Gear to either Ricky or Swerve and continue to develop the Adam Cole angle without the main belt being attached to it. Max can always go back into title contention in late 2024 or 2025

I get it in principle but my main problem is that Cole getting the belt kinda kills the promotion in the sense that there's literally no money matchup for him to have besides Omega (who needs like 6 months of strong as fukk booking to get some heat back) and going from heel MJF champ to heel Cole champ is pretty useless.
