They didn't pay $1 billion to assure he wouldn't be champion, either.

I'm only looking at it from a story perspective. It seems clear that either CM Punk or Cena takes the strap from GUNTHER.

Personally, I'd have GUNTHER go through every last one of them as penance for them not keeping the main thing the main thing.

Considering how much backlash there was to naming him after a Nazi some years back, I think that connotation would be too much.

Priest was excellent working from underneath as a face. To the point where that it was shocking that he won at all during his reign.

Fans are conditioned to believe that Gunther is unbeatable. It works for a mid card champion. It's extremely hard to pull off as a top guy and make it not predictable.

HHH should have jobbed out Gunther for a bit after his IC reign. Showing some weakness isn't always bad in pro wrestling.

Crazy enough that’s what they did with Gunther but in the middle of his world title reign after losing to Cody.

I think they should have pivoted with that angle after losing the IC title and then eventually building him back up to win the WHC.

Oh well, we will see how it eventually ends.
