The left has been divided between progressivism and socialism since the beginning of modern mass politics. It’s nothing new.
None of the mainstream media outlets aired it. The only place I saw playing it was TYT, and of course they were all over her clit because they helped get her elected.
"She said the exact same thing Biden did, but she actually meant it!" They don't seem to realize that makes The Squad look worse, not better.
Why would black people give a fukk about what Allred has to say? I don’t give a shyt if that person is black Allred and CBC don’t align with my ideological beliefs. Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman are on the other hand are people who’s opinions matter to me.How does a supposedly black forum have no thread on a black politicians response to Bidens sotu? Coli is ran by c00ns
Dallas U.S. Rep. Allred touts Biden’s successes in Congressional Black Caucus response to SOTU
Disagree - there's significant fundamental differences between Progressive Liberalism and Socialism. Progressive Liberalism is still Liberalism, whereas Socialism is in direct opposition to Liberalism. Progressivism is fundamentally in favor of limited government, capitalism, and a merit based social structure. Socialism is fundamentally against those things. I mean, it's right there in the name. Liberalism is meant to liberate the individual, whereas Socialism is meant to subordinate the individual to the social collective. What does that even mean? At this point in history (and several others) the people called "progressives" and the people called "socialists" are the same people.
The left is divided between progressives and moderates, not between progressives and socialists. You could sort of say there's a bit of difference between economic progressives and social progressives, but that doesn't really work because come of the strongest economic progressives are also social progressives. The only obvious trend is that it appears easier for the progressives to force the moderates to move on social progressive issues than on economic progressive issues, I assume because the monied interests behind the centrists/moderates are more concerned with holding the lines on money issues than on anything else.
Don't take my word for it:What does that even mean? At this point in history (and several others) the people called "progressives" and the people called "socialists" are the same people.

It’s not enough to just be “progressive.” To tackle the many problems we face today, we need to name the system that’s behind all of them, capitalism — and fight for the only viable alternative, socialism.
Why We’re Socialists, Not “Progressives”
I never said I didn't like the squad or TYT. Earlier in the thread I said I didn't have a problem with Tlaib giving this speech. If you don't like The Squad, and you don't like TYT, why would you even watch their commentary on her speech? I really don't get people who waste so much of their time that way. I didn't watch any of the SOTU speeches and virtually never do, don't really see the point at all for anyone who is even baseline informed and doesn't get a kick out of political theater.

Thats all using classic definitions, of course. If you want to play the relativity game and define them however you see fit, then we'll have to agree to disagree.
You seem rather intent on "owning" me since your glorious return to this obscure anonymous hip hop forum, though, so have at it.
