It sounds like he may have been having a mental health crisis.
-He reported to the police that he got into an argument with his roommates from the motel (presumably his co-workers?) and felt threatened by them.
-He also said a different group of men in Taylorsville were chasing him in 3 pickup trucks and threatening to kill him, but they apparently never caught him or put hands on him, despite him being on foot.
-Then the day that he disappeared, while waiting at the dollar store, he told his mother that he felt threatened by another man, a business owner in town, and if he died that this man was responsible.
-Then a few hours later he's caught on camera in the woods south of Taylorsville shirtless and carrying a stick.
Of course, him possibly having some kind of mental episode doesn't preclude foul play.
