No that is part of what you should have said, saying rap music was a symptom shows a lack of respect, that's like telling a child he is just a symptom of being pregnant

But that is only part of the issues with your disgusting non hip hop post, the other part is the purpose of rap was to provide a platform for people in the ghetto to express themselves and to address issues in their community, the fact that rap music provides neither of those things today is why rap music is garbage and detrimental to black people

Today the main purpose of rap music is to entertain the mainstream audience by exploiting the situation in the ghetto by providing sex violence and degeneracy to the general public, so you can say rap music today, which is garbage, is a symptom of the appetite for degeneracy

But Rap was not a symptom of the south Bronx, hip hop which includes rap was a reaction and a counter force to the situation in the south Bronx, Rap was the antidote, you non hip hop scum

Re u aware that there are thousands of rap artists that don't talk about flossin? I'm not understanding why a person such as yourself that hates rap music and considers rap music garbage, why do u still listen to it? Serious question bruh

Exactly. Which is what a LOT of people in this thread are doing their best to downplay.

Rap only dumbs down and consumes the weak minded. Those who have no plans of moving out of the hood. Those who think the best thing in life is getting free at the club while rocking some new Js. Those who would rather stay in the projects to avoid paying regular bills.

Those people listen to rap religiously because it's their gateway to escape and reflects how they really want to live. And it's easy to talk about flipping bricks to get money around their way than opening up their own legal business.

I mean I'm talking about 19 year olds with 3 year old kids who can't read Cat In The Hat but know every word to Bugatti. And spell it Boogatee. The kid AND the parents. :russ: :snoop:

These kind of people make up a big bulk of the black community. So why wouldnt you want to see a change?

I'm aware of everything that goes on in hip hop, im aware of rappers that don't talk about flossing, but thank you for sharing that information with me

As far as what I listen to, I listen to whatever the fuk I want, I never said whether I listened to rap or not, that has nothing to do with my point

Why you mad?

you were the one on some modest shyt, asking "what happened to rappers just having a clean audi?...why they gotta rap about having Bentleys and Lambos all the time?"

you were talking about how more people would relate if rappers toned it down, and rapped about having things regular people could attain.

now it's "Im that nikka, and these rappers flexing in songs doesn't affect me"

:russ:

Like i already said, the problem is that folks want rap to cater to them, instead of deciding what they wanna hear, when they wanna hear it.

again let me ask u, what is modest about a audi ? again let me tell u, majority of those rappers kickin that ultra money shyt in their ryhmes are puttin in OT for these record labels.

this is not about what we wanna hear or be catered to lil fella, this is about rap nikkas who build up images so tall that there guaranteed to fall down....
why do u think t-pain was whining about future riding in his OLD bugatti ?

there is nothing wrong with pushin super foreign spaceships, but when u try manipulating the listeners and even yourself into believing it is needed to swim in mediocre p*ssy it becomes a problem.

I told u once address me as a man, not as some groupie that is upset at a nikka for having a open clear mind about reality.... I know life may get harsh for u when the song goes off but remember u will always have yourself and from within there is always that chance of winning playboy...

play the song, NEVER LET THE SONG PLAY YOU.....

Worst thing to me is when you see rappers who couldn't get a hundred dollars for a show imitating successful rappers and trying to stunt.

nahh bruh....youre just naming the big acts.
People forget about all the copy cats

Mic Geronimo - Nothing Moves But The Money (HD) - YouTube

that was just like 1 song.

it was meant to be his big hit singe.....which it was......but what happened? it killed all the buzz he built up, ruined his career and it was a wrap.

youre basically supporting my point with this post, rather than going against it.

He said that down south rap music was pushed to dumb down the black population, but denies the long term effects of rap consumerism.

FRWytuv.jpg

this explains it perfectly.

well for one, i didn't say all down south rap music. but yes, i believe that a lot of the dumber southern raps were pushed purposely and its pretty blatant. and by dumbing down, i basically mean that theyre creating a diversion. and getting away from all the issues that used to be addressed and all the gems that used to be dropped in rap music.

and IN THAT SENSE, i do agree with yall. hence, that's why i said that i meet yall halfway on the issue.

but all that other stuff you and @theworldismine are talking are mostly over-the-top generalizations. and then you dudes wonder why we're not cosigning.

I agree it is only so many ways you can talk about money, cars, and clothes. I always felt like nobody could do that better than cash money. The Old Big Tymers and Hotboys, you cant even touch them when it come to that stunting shyt. That's why I don't listen to the radio now. Every song sounds the same and all they talking about is cars, bytches, and hoes. I would like to see the day when the majority of songs on the radio are about some real shyt.

I think it has everything to do with it, I feel like Rap fans today are getting tired of the played out, "I got money, hoes and clothes" theme in mainstream rap..

That's why you seem niccas struggling to sell, while rappers with actual devoted fan bases like, Nas, K.Dot etc sell without a problem..

I remember at Rock The Bells last year during Cudi's show, he had a part where he started talking about how, "Fvck these rappers that talk about Ferrari's and Lambo' and, we ain't got that shxt" etc and the whole crowd was with him on, it was crazy :whew:

I think these sterotipical, niccas like, Ross, Trinidad James, Meek Mill etc will be a thing of the past soon, labels are going to realize. That type of rap doesn't sell like it used to, then you see Cole, Drake, K.Dot, Macklemore doing nice numbers with not even half of the amount of promotion the others niccas have and there it is.

That constant "I'm better than you, got more hoes, money, and jewerly than you" raps are getting old as fvck, it's cool on a couple records but rappers be doing it throughout albums.
Real shyt right here. It's cool to talk about it every once and a awhile. When you start making whole albums about how you ballen I must eject your cd and throw that shyt out my car. Rappers been talking about flossen since the start but me personally I am not about to sit up and listen to a whole album with every song being about how much money you got and how many bytches you got. That shyt will get ejected as quickly as possible.

sounds like a smart-dumb niccette 101 speech from someone who isn't truly in touch with black youths.

lol @ the assumption that black youths generally hold hoop dreams & baller fantasies as priorities.

and then these same people that state this dumb chit wonder why the kids aren't trying to here anything they have to say. like "f*ck outta here oldhead. you don't even know me."

Average rap fan makes less than $30,000 year before taxes.
(You can argue that this figure is low but its accurate and I will debate you on this with data if you feel like the average rap fan earns more than $30,000 a year...)

Anyway I just think a part of the disconnect with rappers and fans and the steady decline of rap CD sales might have something to do with the flaunting of wealth to the fans. Fans might feel less of a duty to buy the CD if they are constantly reminded of the G's and stacks their favorite artist talks about on every song.

In addition to this rap music also promotes financial irresponsibility within the black community. Instead of investing our money in stocks, bonds, etc. we feel pressured into wasting our money on jewelry, cars, and other worthless shyt. We feel compelled to advertise our wealth to everyone otherwise we'd be considered losers/broke (i.e.: having the latest iPhone iteration or whatever is hot). This is why we're the biggest consumers despite only representing merely 14.1% of the American population.
