The biggest help would have been cooperating witnesses, and out of their own code or ignorance, his friends are likely not helping investigators. But, they will still have leads, from confidential informants, gang members who debrief, cameras and street light cameras, cell phone pings, they will arrest a suspect, but it may take time. Sometimes it takes 3 years or one year, or 6 months to bring prosecutable charges. It's not what you know....its what you can prove.
