Rant: Nothing pisses me off more than black business owners walking away from black customers' money

I have that problem with black construction/handymen when I’m giving them easy money to do a project at the house trying to help their business and nobody return calls, show up when they supposed to , respond to emails and text messages

And then I call a Hispanic or white company and have to pay them for a job when u had easy money

Dudes can even lack basic equipment meant to make life easier and in extreme cases demand money upfront so they can actually go buy the stuff they should already have.

And after the jobs done and they've been paid in full but you later discover an error they made, try call them back to correct it and see how eager brehs are to do so..

They seem to be relatively friendly at their restaurants, but one day I was waiting for food and there was an Indian lady at a table who was being rude af to the Indian waitress.

Now Indian liquor stores, and hotels are another story

In the last 2 months I've deliberately tried to switch over to black owned businesses for a couple of things; in finance and as vendors.

I'd say 1 out of the 4 places actually cared about me giving them my business. I was sure to email, call, and tried to be pretty laid back about them not getting back to me.
When they did get back to me, they were mostly apathetic to my inquiries or moving forward with getting started; like they didn't give a shyt if I dropped several stacks or not.

The same services and vendors from cacs were getting back to me literally in hours and following up on if I had any questions or what I may need from them to stay on board. I didn't respond to them cause I was waiting, in some cases, for DAYS from their black competitors.

This shyt pisses me the fukk off. Brehs are losing money cause they can't fukking respond to an email or act interested in ANOTHER breh GIVING them money because they're black owned. Part of me gets even more annoyed because I, irrationally, believe that if I was a cac on some "I'm an ally of the community" shyt, I'd get better service. I know this thread could have been a coli thoughts post....but I can't be the only one who experiences or feels this, right?

Maybe just go with the most professional instead of focusing on race

Anyone that got their haircut at a Black barbershop could tell you this. Although it’s just this new generation, I remember my dad taking me to the barbershop and everyone knew everyone’s name like some Cheers shyt. Maybe it’s still like that in some places but it feels like they just see you as a lick.

Yea now it’s different. My shop is still like that. But most new shops do appointments so it’s nobody in there but 1 or 2 people. You lose the barbershop atmosphere a bit.


But I understand it. Sho wants to be in the shop for 5 hours waiting

Thats another problem. Countless clips/articles of arabs/chinese/others treating us like shyt in their establishments yet we still patronize them, we dont stigmatize their businesses like some of us do ours.

I believe there is a thread on the Jamaican food spots, and their rudeness. But we’re still getting beef patties, and roti.

And frankly, a lot of high school kids stop at the local Caribbean spot to get food after school, and it’s better than them eating so much McDonalds.



A lot of us have to still use the non black immigrant spots, because those are the only options locally. They own all the bodegas, convenience stores, Dunkin Donuts, and gas stations.

I walked out of a Jamaican restaurant because the girl behind the counter just had a nasty attitude for no reason. I didn't do or say anything to warrant that type of response.

You need to have adequate social skills if you're going to work a customer-facing position. I'm not going to give you money if you treat me like shyt.

Nothing annoys me more than a black business that intentionally doesnt serve the black community. Batter and Berries here in Chicago is decent. Service is trash, as expected. Not shytty attitude trash but slow, forgetful etc. Expensive. I stopped going. You want to play up "we are a black business" but dont want to serve the black community. They cant sustain a successful business in the white neighborhood they are in so they want the black community to come all the way across town to this white neighborhood, just to pay a premium for subpar service. The black community is 100% their patrons so they can be in the black community. The workers arent getting paid more than they would if they worked in the white restaurants in the area. The food costs more. And the only people that come are the people who try and support a black business.

Im at a point where, if you dont SERVE THE BLACK COMMUNITY then I dont make exceptions for them.

The fukked up thing is this wasn't always the case. When I was down south and visited some museums, I learned about segregation era businesses(insurance, credit unions, banks, shops, etc).
Black folks got business from cacs because they worked damn hard knowing their profit potential was limited to black folks. It seems like after integration happened, these businesses got bought out wholesale or got killed because now black folks could patronize cac establishments with little to no problems.

fast forward to today, black folks go to a cac store, get treated like shyt and spend even MORE money to prove they are worthy of better treatment. that's fukking retarded. why not patronize a black store instead or buy it up if youre so rich and restructure it.
