(With my new formula)

That makes sense. Right up there with Bron and Magic.

How about Duncan? I would think he's right up there with these guys.

EDIT: I see the points have changed with your updated formula. Bron is up there pretty high.

I just created this scale on the spot:

MVP=3pts
DPOY=2pts
ROY=2pts
FMVP=2pts
Championships=1pt
Statistical Season Leader (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks)=1pt
2pts/10k points
1pt/5k rebounds
2pts/5k assists
2pts/1k steals
1pt/500 blocks

MJ=62
LeBron=40
Magic=34
Bird=28
KD=24
Steph=23

Edit: Updated with my new formula
why would any award or statistical category be higher than a title?

The same reason a former MVP in Charles Barkley 4x DPOY winner in Dikembe Mutombo are in the HOF despite never winning it all, but 5x champ Steve Kerr and 7x champ Robert Horry won’t be going in.

OK and? It's the ultimate achievement in any sport. Team and individually. No one says, "I wanted to make the league to get MVPs/DPOYs." Plus no one is looking at Kerr or Horry and saying they're the best at anything. Nice formula but sorry, discounting titles is stupid. It's like saying wins and losses don't matter, just put up stats.

Who has the best career vs who is the best player?

I like this question:

1. MJ - All the chips and awards. Most of his peers call him the goat. Even his rivals call him baby jesus.

2. Magic - W/O being around during that time. Homie was the PG of a team called, "Showtime". On top of titles and many awards.

3. Bird - W/O being around. Its said his rivalry with Magic changed the NBA. On top of many awards.

4. Lebron- Maybe the talent for talent, most talented player in NBA history. Maybe the player that faced the most criticism. Won titles and awards, but lost some titles some say he should not have.

5. Curry- Bad start to career, but turned into one of the greatest players ever. Best shooter of all time. But maybe not enough individual hardware to really get the respect he should.

6. KD- Won titles n hardward. One of the most skilled offensive talents ever. Some still dont respect the titles he did win. Even went to a team, or 2 that clearly underperformed.

Not an NBA historian by any means.

It’s not discounting titles. But it goes back to that argument about winning titles being the “bus driver” vs being a passenger. A lot of players have won rings who were just along for the ride.

Also, there ARE players who have aspirations of being one of the best, and know the accolades come with it. Players who feel they were robbed when they lost out on an award. The goal is to win a championship, but that’s why there’s more weight given to rings won while you were the man vs getting old and winning one coming off the bench.

LeBron has had the best career by far. No major injuries, still playing at a high level. He's not the best to ever play or the most decorated but he definitley had the best career

Not really hard either. The only debatable is Curry’s legacy is going to skyrocket and people are gonna try to push him way up.

But you have to ignore the children sometimes. They operate off momentum and their tunnel vision “eye test”. That shyt dont even fukking matter when assessing legacy. The bottom line is Steph killed his own legacy by teaming with KD. I’ve said it before that if that never happens Steph was on a top 5 trajectory. He cheated himself and these conversations is when he pays for it. ONE finals MVP. Only 2 MVPs. Impact on the game is a moot point bc the league may have ended without Magic and Bird.
It's hilarious how you think others operate on a tunnel vision eye test, and not you, especially when you're penalizing Steph for teaming up with KD, but not penalizing Magic for playing with what many considered at the time to be the greatest player to ever play the game.

Even worse using things like MVPs/FMVPs without any regards to context.

You're just picking and choosing finite criteria that you believe in, and not trying to be objective.
