Not really hard either. The only debatable is Curry’s legacy is going to skyrocket and people are gonna try to push him way up.

But you have to ignore the children sometimes. They operate off momentum and their tunnel vision “eye test”. That shyt dont even fukking matter when assessing legacy. The bottom line is Steph killed his own legacy by teaming with KD. I’ve said it before that if that never happens Steph was on a top 5 trajectory. He cheated himself and these conversations is when he pays for it. ONE finals MVP. Only 2 MVPs. Impact on the game is a moot point bc the league may have ended without Magic and Bird.
Strongly agree, curry first championship was against a team without their 2nd and 3rd best players and still went to 6 games, he blew a 3-1 lead to an inferior team and then had to form the ultimate superteam where KD was the best player and led those teams to the championship, i have to reduce some points for that alone. In comparison magic johnson was the finals mvp and best player in the finals as a rookie in the league.

LMAO!!! That Warriors team was only propped up because they LeBron. Same way Paul George became a "Superstar" for battling the Heat tough. Nobody was taking Dray or Klay over Kyrie and Love back then.

3 chips in a decade where another team had 2 top 5 OAT players on it :manny:
By that same token, Bird only beat the Lakers once in the Finals.

The other two championships were won when he didn't play them, so how much emphasis can you really put on him winning three championships against the backdrop of the the Cap/Magic Lakers?

By that logic, bird was running that decade with one top 100 teammate, with the exception of that one all time great team. If magic and Kareem didn’t end up together, bird might’ve won 5.

I don't pay attention to top-75 players/top-100 player lists, in this context.

The Celtics had one of the most talented and stacked teams throughout the 80s, where the majority of their playoff runs had balanced offensive production, and not Bird dragging the team along, all by himself. You had the likes of Parish and McHale at various points being just as integral to the Celtics as Bird was. You had the likes of Ainge and DJ who were some of the best role players of that time.

I'm merely questioning why you're putting all this emphasis on him winning titles against the backdrop of the Lakers, when he was 1-2 against them in the Finals.

These were chips before expansion. Whole league was deeper relative to the talent at the time. And there was a team out there each season with more top end talent than you. Even if he didn’t end up playing them, it’s because you got the job done and they didn’t.

Like 3 chips in the 80s is worth more to me than 3 chips in the late 00s when all the stars were spread out on bad franchises would be. Just a harder time to be the best.
