Going for it on 4th and short was always the right play. Teams were just stupidYou don't think it has something to do with offensive players being babied and coddled compared to offensive players in early 2000s ?
There's definitely less cute stuff that you'd do if you knew the edge rusher had the freedom to hit a QB anywhere make it hurt and not get a penalty for it.
The game wasn't as pass-happy as it is now either.
Being p*ssy on 4th down. Running every first downyou gotta give some examples, because what might look like "being scared" to you is just a byproduct of the era
passing the ball was a lot more difficult, getting a PI or Defensive hold was a whole lot more difficult. third and medium were tough to convert so a lot coaches ran the ball in these situations and also in 3rd and longs unless they had a HoF QB.
nowadays you might watch a game from early 2000s and laugh like why are they running on 3rd and medium. Because it was a lot more about running the ball and playing defense. Teams ran way more and trusted QBs far less.
Shiiiiit some high schools including one I went to ran the ball on like 95% of the plays.
CJ Stroud and Will Anderson playing tonight?
It's clear over the past five years that the NFL is better when the greatest and most successful franchise in NFL history, the New England Patriots, are a major contender.
Nothing before 1985 matters. Pretty much like the Yankees only having a few legitimate rings.
@NOSaintsFan02 You should give BucciMane your AVI.
I only spoke facts. It's not even remotely debatable..
Salary cap era with six Super Bowl rings, with vastly superior talent in the league.
Clearly the most accomplished franchise during a time that actually matters.
