They still would have lost Horford and potentially Kyrie or the player that they traded for as they wouldn't have been able to pay everybody. That's also not factoring in that Tatum and Brown might have not became the players they are now if they never got the opportunity to do so with those other dudes still on the roster.
Luck also played a part in the demise of those Ainge picks as Sacramento and Memphis got lucky in the draft the year before those picks conveyed and dilluted the value of them. Those are the two biggest picks he whiffed out on.
