The play-in format sucks in general, but even if you agree with it, at least in the bubble they needed a reason to do it. If you weren't within 5 games it wasn't worth it at all.
And for anyone who likes it because "it prevents tanking," the Lakers and Clippers have zero incentive to tank and the one team dying for a play-in spot (Sacramento) isn't good enough to get there.
