You made that post when they were 6-1 (only loss in OT) and looking like the best team in the league :shaq2: They beat down Milwaukee by like 40, sonned Brooklyn, Dallas, Memphis :heh: call that shyt preseason if you wanna gloat pleighboi
I said before the Lowry trade that he was the missing piece that would bring it all together; turning them into legitimate contenders. Those first handful of games just confirmed it for me.
Also what you mean by "finally" put it together anyways :patrice: this only their 3rd year with Jimmy and they already were 2 wins away from a chip :hubie:
This is the best their team will be for some time. Butler and Lowry are nearing the end of their days as high-impact players. Like I said in the thread: it's championship or bust. That wasn't the case over the previous seasons because they weren't for real. Nobody treats that Bubble run seriously. There's a reason why they were swept in the first round the following season by the same team they beat 4-1 in the Bubble. They were never any threat to win a title that season.

I understand you got to defend your son and all but cmon man. He never rebounded despite having the athleticism, he never played defense despite having the ability to and outside of the corner threes (which he can definitely hit I’ll give him that) he couldn’t shoot from anywhere else.

Thibs already said if you don’t rebound or defend you won’t be playing and that broke his confidence. Maybe ATL can help him but he needs to get his confidence back or he’s going to be gone from the league.

As someone who watched every game of the Capela years in Houston (dollar store version of Gobert), and some of his ATL playoff games... there is no being played off the floor offensively for that type of PnR lob-threat big surrounded by shooters & high IQ players.

It may not always be the primary play if you face an elite team but the constant lob and offensive rebound threat will always be there.

Specifically to Gobert, he didn't get played off the court when they went 7 vs Denver.. and vs LAC ppl referred to Mann getting those 3s off as to why Gobert shouldn't have been on the floor.
He averaged 12.5 ppg against LAC when Marcus Morris was starting at center. His lack of offense absolutely hurt Utah. Other teams can play small against them to nullify his defense because he isn't punishing them on offense. Teams don't have to matchup against him.

Despite his horrible shooting woes, Steph Curry is still leading the league in net rating

Players Advanced GE30:GPG25&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&Season=2021-22

  1. Curry - 13.8
  2. Gobert - 13.2
  3. Jrue Holiday - 11.0
  4. Giannis - 10.7
  5. Garland - 9.9
  6. Jokic - 9.3
  7. D'Angelo Russell - 9.2
  8. CP3 - 8.7
  9. Bridges - 8.6
  10. Wiggins - 8.6
  11. DeRozan - 8.6
  12. Mitchell - 8.5
  13. Patty Mills - 7.9
  14. Booker - 7.9
  • Notable people missing in the top 15: Embiid at 6.9 and KD at 4.2

  • The gap between 1st and 3rd place (Curry vs Jrue) is the same as the gap between 14th place and 4th place

  • All of Curry, Jokic, and Gobert are far above their teammates, which suggests time and time again that they elevate the team at far higher level than people believe. The Warriors are net negative this season with Curry off the floor. And it is not the first time Curry has led the league in net rating despite not being on the top seed team, he's been top 5 consistently since 2014, excluding 2020 and 2021.

  • Giannis has been the most consistent competitor in net rating to Curry

  • Patty Mills, DLo, DeRozan, and Garland have also been killing it this season compared to their teammates
This is why I always stress that regardless of Steph making shots or not, his impact is still unparalleled.

Other teams can nullify Rudy's defense (somewhat) by putting all shooters out since they know he has to come commit when defenders blow by his teammates :unimpressed:

As far as offense that hurt the Jazz vs LAC...

Bogey shot 2/10 and Clarkson 5/16 in game 3
Mitch shot 9/26 and Clarkson 3/12 in game 4
Mitch shot 6/19, Clarkson 5/12, Royce 4/11 in game 5

:francis:

Goberts, Capelas, Jarett Allens, etc can punish any team on offense through pnr/lobs/o-rebounds.. that's just common sense. Especially if they have 4 shooters like with Utah.

But what is crippling, as we've seen with the Jazz these last handful of games without Rudy, is an inability to defend at all if that big isn't there to clean it all up...
