People sure are pissed that Thibs didn’t get voted COTY by his peers :russ:

why should Thibs have been coach of the year I personally was more impressed with the Suns they literally turned it around completely (granted Chris Paul helped a great deal with that)

Their argument seems to be that Thibs deserves it as he helped changed the direction and culture of the Knicks. Which is a reasonable argument to make, but you could also make that claim for Monty and McMilan as well. I think that Monty deserves it as people would be lying if they said before the season that Phoenix would finish 1 game back of the best record in the league and be in the top 10 of both offense an defense.

Granted, CP3 helped with Phoenix's ascension as did Randle for NY and Capela's defense changing ATL fortunes, which they will more than likely be rewarded for during awards season.

Monty deserves it. Even before Chris Paul joined, the team was turning around. Booker started playing his best basketball after Monty started coaching. Ayton went from a rookie who was terrible defensively to a respectable defender. Cam Payne revived his career after Monty gave him a chance.

Everyone bought in moving the ball and playing defense in Monty's system. He's really established a new culture in his short time as coach.
