I forgot Ibaka wasn't even on the team, with all the talk about Rondo + Cousins 10-day contract. Both teams seem more stacked this year.

It may not matter if BK remains healthy throughout but it's still advantageous for them to get the #1 seed, just so they don't have to face anyone worth a damn until the ECFs.. meanwhile PHI and MIL would have to go life n death in round 2.

I also think we'll start to see the true value of the Vucevic trade for Chicago. They lost some gimmes but overall the timing of the trade was in the middle of a tough stretch for CHI (PHO, UTA x 2, BK). The upcoming they'll have to do better than a .500 split (ATL, MIN, MEM, ORL, MEM, CLE).. but if they can go 5-1 or something, they can really put pressure on BOS and NYK for the 7th and 8th slots... which if i understand correctly will give them more room for error in the elimination tournament.

Yup but if I'm interpreting correct, Bulls just have to win 1 of 2 games if they are the 7 or 8 seed... but have to go 2-0 if they are 9 or 10th.

And with how rocky Bos has been, that could be precarious if they find themselves having to win back to back elimination games, if they wind up dropping out the top 8

All of this play-in talk is so corny and really dilutes the value of the NBA season. If you can't make it to the 7th or 8th seed in 82 games, then you don't deserve the extra opportunity and 2nd chance.

It's fine or whatever in the collegiate game, but not in professional sports.

Edit: 72 games, but still more than enough time to make the 7th and 8th seed without the need for a play-in.
