Triple doubles specifically are impressive but Westbrook made it a mission to do that regardless of the outcome of the game.

Nothing can be overblown about players who put up do shyt statistics
Only Westbrook went hunting for triple doubles. Everyone else just plays the game an of it happens it’ll happen. Lonzo doesn’t start force feeding player or rebound hunting when he realizes he’s close

The issue is KD, and Steph isn't playing as well this year imo, breh is leveling out. Plus dude has yet to be the most important player on his team, why should be win any mvp? Cats that need to take 10 3 ptrs a game just to score/pad their average:camby:
:gucci:

None of this makes one bit of sense.

A combination of freebounds, assist hunting, sketchy assist tracking has made the triple double pretty worthless IMO.
youre right context matters, but a guard getting a board is generally a good thing. example: kobe's 15 boards in game 7 of the finals made a difference

In the context of winning games I do agree a guard getting a rebound and going is a weapon in the league as currently constructed. I'm talking more from a fan perspective of what's impressive and what isn't. Getting a uncontested rebound because the team game-plans for you to get them makes the whole appeal and reverence of the triple double pretty fruitless.

The other day Ben Simmons and Dario fought for a rebound and the ball went out of bounds. It was Dario's board and it looked pretty clear like Simmons was rebound hunting. shyt bothered the fucck out of me.

1. Don't know if it was said already but a team is tied for 2nd place in the east and tied for the 4th best record overall. This team is also one of 3 team in the top 10 in offensive and defensive efficiency. Why are the Detroit Pistons getting ignored? They beat the Warriors once and Minnesota twice. This team is actually fun to watch. They play a motion offense this year like the Spurs and Warriors.

They better start getting some flex schedule love from TNT and ESPN. At least game of the week on NBA TV.

2. On a team with the best defensive efficiency in the league, longest win streak and best overall record because of the defense, why does the media give most of the credit to a player that missed two games of the win streak. Can the players that played every game get some national recognition for their efforts?

Brown & Tatum haven't gotten any recognition for their play this season? :beli:

I only hear them talked about durning the game. I hear Kyrie on every talking head tv show outside of the one episode of skip and shannon after boston won the first game without kyrie.

I'm tired of the narrative the media creates. The Celtics should be talked about the same way the 04 Detroit Pistons were. No real Superstar (A lie) with possibly 4 unselfish stars who win by playing team ball. I love how this team is made up and how it plays together. The Kyrie slurping is getting old.

*edit* before the low level posting begins I'm not saying this team is as good as the 04 Pistons that won a championship. I'm saying they should be sold in the same way as the Pistons were. An exciting defensive team that plays as a unit. Not a one man show.
