I don't know where we post shyt like this, but the stan wars got me remembering that Pau Gasol was a pretty dope player to watch when he wasn't whining at refs, so shout-out to Pau Gasol :ehh: dude was perfect for the Triangle

During his Lakers' peak he was one of the most complete big men in the NBA on offense AND he was a plus defender too.

A Kobestan was arguing that Pau was washed during the Lakers' championship run and got dapped up by 10 other Kobestans. :francis:

As if he didn't average 19-9-2 on 60% shooting while holding Dwight to 15ppg on 49% shooting (just one series after Dwight had destroyed Cleveland for 26ppg on 65%)

As if he didn't average 19-12-4 on 49% shooting while holding Garnett to 15 and 6 (in a series basically determined by rebounding)

As if he wasn't the biggest scorer in the 4th quarter of Game 7 in the 2010 Finals against the Celtics, as if he didn't make the biggest shots in regulation and overtime against the Magic in Game 2 and Game 4 of the 2009 Finals, as if he didn't control Game 7 against the Rockets (21 and 18 with 3 blocks while Kobe was stumbling to 14 points on 4-12 shooting).

Pau was the most complete player for the Lakers in their biggest series and was the guy who showed up most often at the biggest moments. And yet for the fan base of HIS team, his legacy is going to be defined as "the guy who we have to claim sucked in those very moments so we can prop up Kobe."

Pau was great his first three years in LA. People kill him after the fact because he went to shyt in the playoffs after the second title. Dirk emasculated him in 2011 and he was never the same.

Yeah, which makes it idiocy to say he wasn't huge in the 2009 and 2010 seasons (and playoffs, and Finals) just because he fell short in a different playoffs a year later.

The whole team got crushed in that Mavs series, but Pau was in his 11th season in the league at that point. He didn't strike me as the kind of guy who was going to lose his shyt off of one bad series to a superior team.

It was weird to me that Pau kinda struggled through the 2012 and 2013 regular seasons, then suddenly picked up the moment Kobe got injured and got a second life from 2014-2016. There was a lot of internal shyt going on with that Lakers team, I think it was all the internal team turmoil that was affecting his game. Those teams were dysfunctional as hell once they stopped winning.

He wasn't even supposed to be on the team after 2011. The Veto just poisoned the well for the entire franchise. Odom forced his way out afterwards and Pau wasn't mentally there.

Then Pringles got there and had him coming off the bench and jacking up threes (before that was part of his game or the league norm).

After Kobe got injured, there was no pressure or expectations, so he was able to play free again.

Top 4 things I'm interested in..no particular order.

Lakers trying to pursue a Star player in FA. Do we ship out Young guys or add players who fit & speed up the growth.

Phoenix rebuilding process. It will interesting to see if they can build a team around Booker & be successful .At times he looks amazing...others leave you dissatisfied.

How GS retools. They need to start looking for Iggy replacement as it was night & day with him on the court. Kerr said next year would be Damian Jones time, I'll be watching him closely.

Obviously what Bron decides to do will be major. Does a younger team ship their entire future out for possibly 3 years max of hopeful success? Hell just bringing Bron in who will most likely want to continue dominating the ball will disrupt the growth process.

Anybody thinking bringing him in has no negatives is crazy. It just comes down if the positives outweighs them.
