Kyrie's kneecap was broken, he's going to need surgery on it in the offseason, that is not something to just casually brush to the side. I don't look away from the fact Embiid is injury prone, we're discussing this under the premise he's healthy though, with injury concerns in mind you can't just assign perfect health to Kryie moving forward when his knee is an issue as well. If Simmons is a special talent, why ask who Embiid has next to him? He has warts that need to be fixed, but the fact remains Embiid is a generational talent and neither of those Celtic wings are on that level.
Did you not see me specifically write,
"Yes, the injury cloud doesn't wane too far from Kyrie, but the Celtics have two elite-potential wings ready waiting in the wings."; I'm most definitely NOT trying to brush his injury-history aside, nor assign "perfect health" to him, you don't need to tell me about the state he's in/been in, I've acknowledged in the past that his career most likely will be cut short because of his injuries.
I'm simply giving laying out the alternative outcomes for both the Celtics and 76ers if their respective franchise pieces were out of the picture. Which is not only to outline to you that, it's a real possibility (given their respective states of health) but to show you that Boston has better pieces, in a better setup, to survive, if that were to occur.
And yes, Embiid is a better talent than both Tatum/Brown, but he's only ONE player, and a speck in the universe of what it takes for a franchise to have a successful future.
The coaching staff in Philly had nothing to do with Fultz changing his shot, that was a decision he made in the summer. But, the Sixers have done a good job with fixing shots - Saric, McConnell, Anderson are all better shooters, one of the biggest knocks on Saric was that he couldn't shoot the 3.
Why are you leaving out the important detail the 76ers continued to play him even when his shoulder still wasn't right? Why are you leaving the important detail(s) of their medical staff misdiagnosing/mishandling its players when it comes to injuries in the past?
If Hayward didn't break his leg Tatum would be developing at a slower rate, we'll have to see how he adjusts to coming off the bench for Gordon next year..
Like I said, the Celtics have greater depth.
Beloved, I don't this part of your post, you're talking about them getting the pick next year and packaging it with Horford for someone 2019, while completely neglecting the fact the Sixers could end up with that LAL pick to add to their team, using that same rationale what would stop them from using the 2018 LAL pick + XYZ to go out and get a player, especially if they miss the playoffs and have two lottery picks..
I was speaking in the context of this summer, if the pick doesn't fall where they want it to, they could make a move for a big man before the draft. It's still a valuable asset for the right suitor, regardless of where it falls. The second part of that portion of my post was centred around Horford's play going forward, as you seem to think his 'fall' and/or irreplaceability is this great factor in Boston's supposed ominous future. I was addressing both your points, separately.
You're starting to turn the ball over at a crazy rate, my breh.
The Sixers situation is worse?
They have room for 2 maxes this summer, look like they'll be getting the 2018 LAL pick and have two guys under 25 that are learning to lead.
Yes, it's worse (or not as good, if you need it to be euphemized), they're still in an unproven state, with no great foundation. I don't even see how this is even an argument? The Celtics are the #1 seed in the East (for the second year in a row), without their co-offensive anchor, reliant on a bunch of young'ns to contribute at a high level; greater stability (again), greater depth (again) and we can actually visibly see they're heading in the right direction.
The Bucks situation isn't that much worse than the C's, the biggest sore spot for them is Jabari's long term health outside of that the C's have absolutely no answer for him, Giannis putting up straight up video game numbers vs them
The Knicks situation is bad, mainly because Phil fukked them over with that Noah contract, but if Giannis does leave Milwaukee guess who one of his best friends is....
The Celtics are capped out, they aren't a FA destination at all.
I'm not even going to argue against the Bucks and Knicks - shyt should be self-explanatory. It seems to me you're just going to unload every [empty] clip you have on Ainge/Celtics until you have nothing left.
