Do you think Nerlens Noel will garner more votes this year? He only had a single vote last year (3rd place vote) and he looks to be doing the same thing as he was doing last year (hanging around that 3.5 stocks area, keeping Philly's defense semi-respectable when on the floor). Do you see him placing near the top 5? Assuming Gobert/Davis/Draymond/Leonard/Jordan are his primary competition.

He should have been recognized as an elite defender last year, the Sixers were right outside the top 10 defensively off his work. I don't think he'll get any votes this year, even though he's among the best interior defenders in the league, he was statistically better defensively than Jordan last year. The people who vote on DPOY are always a year or two behind what a player does.

Gobert affects your entire teams defense, Kawhi as good as he is doesn't shut down the paint, a great perimeter defender doesn't have the same impact as a great interior defender.

Nets aren't picking up Sergey Karasev's option for next year whom the Cavs drafted in 2013.

Cavs could've drafted Gobert and would have not needed to trade for Mozgov.

Gobert would still be on his rookie deal while they are paying out all these other contracts.
