don't understand how some teams are getting 2-3 days off already while other teams are playing every other day.

The nba is sickening trying to extend these series when honestly half of these series will be sweeps.

Turner would rather not have the games overlap each other if at all possible.

Question on weight training for basketball players. Was just reading this article on Andrew Wiggins and they described what kind of weight training they are doing with him.

Wiggins isn’t doing conventional lifting on a daily basis at this point, though Wolves strength coach David Crewe attests that the second–year forward is keeping to his intended schedule. Most of his strength training is resistance band work. Even when slated to do more traditional lifts, Crewe often has Wiggins on custom–built equipment that swaps out a bar for a cable–tethered basketball. Minnesota doesn’t believe in strength for strength’s sake; the entirety of the Wolves’ physical training program is engineered to promote the specific and the functional.

Can't Miss: Wiggins and the Wolves need each other

I never played basketball in school for a team. I played football so I can only speak from my limited perspective but the workouts that they have Wiggins doing sound like complete bullshyt:snoop:. Dude needs to gain real muscle but it doesn't sound like he's using an real weight. Read that section of the article with a tear in my eye:to:. He'll never reach his potential of that's what his weight training regime consists of. I know he can't go super heavy during the season and i know bball players have to work out different than other athletes but at the end of the day weight training is weight training and that sounds like done p*ssy shyt they have him doing. Am I wrong? Is this normal basketball weight training protocol? @Malta @Brozay @Nicky Barnes @We Ready

I mean it depends, he plays at a position where bulk muscle isn't really necessary and being muscular doesn't really matter much, look at Tayshaun Prince, he was an excellent defender despite being skinny as shyt.

It sounds like they don't want him to get bulky, football and basketball are two different sports and more weight isn't always the best, especially at a position that requires so much jumping, cutting and explosiveness on hardwood floors. Someone like Kristaps Porzingis needs to gain weight because he plays in the paint and holding his ground requires strength, Wiggins may end up playing SG so staying around 200-205lbs isn't really a bad thing, he's stronger than pretty much every SG in the league.

@I AM WARHOL I think flexibility and core strength is more important than just bulk. He is great athlete and I don't want him carrying around more weight when he is jump stopping and doing those spin moves in traffic. He's already pretty strong in the post, I think good coaching will get more out of him defensively. Lavine is a kid who needs to hit the weights. He's got no definition and you can tell he wants to avoid contact when going to the rim instead of going through it with his athleticism. I know Torii Hunter switched to yoga type training in the offseasons because flexibility had more of a link to keeping the body healthy than just bulking up in the offseasons. I think that may be part of the reason you are seeing so many more injuries in football because these dudes bodies and joints are put to the limit year round. :yeshrug:

I appreciate the feedback :salute:. That makes sense. Dude doesn't have to look like Bron out here. I feel like he could can 15 pounds of muscle and actually gain some explosion tho. I feel like gaining muscle mass would be a plus for him at both SG and SF. Plus The fact that it's looking like the Timberwolves are gonna be leaning towards the Rubio Lavine Wiggins lineup going forward, I feel like he must get bigger to defend the 3 spot.

I just want this kid to be as good as he can be :mjcry:

there's a whole lot of truth to that. Yeah Lavine needs to gain like 10 pounds at least this offseason. Trying to see him boom on somebody

Gotta put the weight on slowly, too much stress on the knees if you do it too quickly. That hardwood floor + jumping isn't as forgiving as grass so strength coaches in the NBA are a lot more cautious when it comes to putting on weight, in a year or two Wiggins will probably be close to 220lbs. Look at Giannis for example, he was 196lbs and is 222lbs and nobody really noticed because it happened over 3 years.

Hmm that's true. That would be hell on his knees to go up in weight that fast. Did Wiggins gain any weight from year 1 to year 2? That boy Giannis got Nigerian blood running thru his veins :wow:. We get big easy :lolbron:
