Im not sure if ya'll have been watching but DRose is really struggling out there
He shows flashes of something close to his old self, but he cant sustain that play anymore
I told myself to be patient and give him at least until next season to make judgments, but damn, dude has been absolutely brutal lately
Its really been hard to swallow as a Bulls fan
yea i felt we should give him to the all star break but at this point i think we''ve gotten a good idea of where this is going for him.. for this season at least. Jump shot aside, his handles needs some work over the offseason as he doesn't do too well in traffic or with situational ball pressure. I do expect he'll be less turnover prone next season tho.
But as far as this year, even tho he takes a lot of shots in his 30 mins a game, he still just seems lackadaisical at times or too willing to settle. He's got to find that distance on his floater. Or as a simple play call for himself how about use a high pick and roll from the top of the key with gasol as the pick setter... butler/hinrich spaced all the way out to the left/right corner 3s and noah low on the block. I feel 2011 rose would annihilate teams if he had that much real estate/spacing and options to keep defenders honest.. whereas this rose kinda does his pick and rolls on the left side of the court.. purposely dribbles into the trap along the baseline and then tries to throw the ball over his shoulder to pau.. and then tries to do that struggle back door cut thing that they never seem able to time right.
I actually liked how he was playing at the start of the season/preseason.. prior to that ham string injury. I think he's still physically capable and that his floater can still be very effective but he's got to be more purposeful with his passing and his offense. Otherwise, they are going to run into problems if/when they encounter washington or atlanta in the playoffs.
