z-bo was traded for q-rich and and 2nd round pick. there was only 2 years left on his deal. if it didn't work out in year 1, he turns into an expiring. there was no risk involved.

Man Marc was an afterthought and a throw in.. The headline was Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown- with The Logo as the GM for the Grizzles everybody felt he helped his old franchise out plus he was close to Kobe who was actually thinking about moving over to the Clippers. But Jerry West looked out and the Lakers kept rollin to more rings and fame. The Grizz still haven't won sh*T. They still haven't won a ring. Marc wasn't sh*t and Zbo wasn't sh*t at that present time. They gradually became something in Memphis over the course of time. It was more luck than actual great scouting and GM moves. There was no, "oh we're losing a young all star in Pau but Marc is coming and we'll be acquiring Zbo so we'll be straight for years to come". If we didn't draft Blake we would've more than likely kept Zbo.
