In case anyone cares about powerlifting, Sheffield stream

This was a dope comp. Americans really put on. We set lots of records overall even though we didnt bring home the big prize. Sheffield is an odd meet where your ability to win is largely based on how strong the WR in your class is. Typically the winner has often cut down a weight class to pick off an underdeveloped WR total.

My boy Russ beat the depth allegations. I never thought he had depth issues really the judges have just always been biased against him and other Americans because we are too good. So he went back in training and made it undeniable. Glad to see bro finally push himself all out in a meet instead of doing the bare minimum to win.

Big Perk squatting 712 at 163 is absurd

Ashton took 826 for a ride w/ a bum shoulder/pec/bicep

Unsurprisingly Kjell won the whole thing because he cut a weight class to take out a weak WR in the 66kg class. It'll be awhile before anyone else in that class touches those numbers

then last but certainly not least Agata Sitko. the #1 powerlifter in the world won the women's side again this year going down a weight class. i believe she has WRs in 2 weight classes now and almost beat the girl that has the WR 2 weight classes up from her today.

Yeah it was an enjoyable event to watch. Sucks that neither Russ or Austin medalled.

Water weight can really throw you in for a loop. Two days in Vegas where my eating was a bit lax and it shows I “gained” 8lbs. Salty foods and carbs will do you in.

I know it’ll all be flushed by Wed/Thu once I get back to my routine.

This just underscores why I’ve been keeping things tight for all of Q1 (limited social functions, no liq/tree, etc). A bad weekend can toss you off course before you make proper strides. Anyway, back on it the next moment. Discipline > Motivation.

But I do feel the changes in my mindset. My body is craving more and more physical activity. Like the fact I didn’t play soccer or cycle this weekend has me feeling some type of way.

Daily progress leading to weekly progress leading to monthly progress :blessed:

I’ll treat myself with some new clothes once Q1 is done. Then get dialed back in for Q2

1 for 1. Hotel gyms suck but still got something decent in. Next two days I need to flush out this excess water weight.

By Wednesday I’m back home with a proper setup.

Just staying the course.

Me and my son took turns being sick last year so I’m def Larry Holmes status

My job pays $300 for a wellness benefit so gonna apply them to his swim lessons or get myself an Apple Watch

As far as exercise, we “walk” at the park/he’s learning to walk unassisted so not particularly exercise for me but we do it for an hour or so each week

No gym this AM. Was still on the road but once I got back I got in a good game of soccer. I have some crazy water weight from last weekend that is finally starting to recede. I'm now fully steady state until the end of march.

Back at it. Got to gym 30 mins later than I’d like (that evening soccer game knocked me into a deep slumber :wow: ) but I still got in a great upper body day. Water weight is all but flushed out now.

Looking to finish this month strong then get a new plan for the next 8 weeks. Emphasis on maintaining strength as much as possible while I cut weight.

February should be a good month, too. I’m starting to see numbers on the scale I haven’t seen in some time. Very excited at the progress I’m making and how this discipline is carrying over to other parts of my life.

Day by day

Amazing leg day today. Went very heavy on the squats and DLs. Good accessory work, too. These morning workouts are a game changer.

Still need to be getting in at 5am instead of 5:30am. Seems like more people at my gym are switching to the AM so by 6:15am it starts getting crowded. I actually had to wait for the leg extension machine today :beli:

When it comes to big box gyms...

24 HR Fitness
EOS Fitness
Crunch Fitness

I've been a member of the first two for quite some time. This week, I've been on a 7-day trial w/ a Crunch Fitness that opened near me (I think they are trying to break into the DFW market for the first time). Equipment has been surprisingly good. But I wanted to wait until I did a proper leg day there before making any judgements. Yesterday's leg day was very intense.

Thinking of dropping 24 HR Fitness and adding Crunch. My EOS is open 24 hours and has a pendulum squat that I really like and a better/cleaner locker room & sauna. But Crunch has high-quality Nautilus/Matrix equipment throughout, not that Hoist shyt 24 HR Fitness loves to fill their gyms with.

Great shoulder and arm work today. Don’t think I had a day this month where I didn’t go to gym, play soccer, cycle or go for a run.

Forget the physical benefits, my mental health has improved markedly (not that is was bad, but just feel much better).

At this rate, by end of Q1 I’d have made significant progress. By summer I’ll be cooking with gas. By my next Naija trip I’ll be out the frying pan and into the fire :blessed: :ohlawd:
