I usually don't workout at night. The workout felt good but I ended around 10:30 and couldn't sleep at all. I need to find a work around or bush that shyt :camby:

Lowkey this is why I’ve moved to the morning. Some days I’d finish my workout by 10pm but my body would be so active I can’t fall asleep.

With my 5am workouts I’m alert for the work day but usually tire out by the end of the day and sleep well.

@phcitywarrior have you played soccer at Margaret Hayward. They used to have good games going on there in the evenings.

I haven’t played there but I think I’ve seen a posting about it on meetup. Don’t you have to play to play though? Like a $5 fee?

That’s one of the reasons I couldn’t live in SF. Outside of the fact that there are barely any black people, there’s also a lack of accessible soccer fields. Everything is booked and it won’t even be for soccer. Dudes book the field to play ultimate frisbee or kickball :francis:

At least living in Oakland I can access a lot of fields in Berkley.

Best place to play is on the Penninsula though. San Mateo to Palo Alto, those fields are :blessed:

I’ll check out the GGP fields next weekend. I love pickup but haven’t played a proper 11 v 11 in a while.

Probably just had an off day yesterday but squats whooping my ass

Same thing for me today.

4/4 this week but I had to squat at 85% my regular weights (355lbs). Part of the problem is my left knee, I need to get a sleeve for that.

Still got it in with my deadlifts and accessory leg exercises.

I’m really developing the mindset that something better than nothing.

First world problems lol

If I can do this I'm likely satisfied with where I've gotten.

Edit: Not likely, 4 plates as a normal squat is absolutely my Everest and everything else is maintenance lol

I want to ask yall a question about nutrition. Do yall go out of your way to calculate all your protein and calorie intake ? How important is it for the average Joe

5/5 this week. I'm on the road today so I had to use the hotel gym. Again, something is better than nothing. Luckily, Fridays are when I do shoulders and arms and the hotel gym had dumbbells going up to 50lbs so I didn't really miss a bit from a volume perspective.

My cut is going well ahead of schedule. I was targeting 1.25lbs a week so about 5lbs a month. I'm on track for closer to 6/7lbs this month. Already feeling my pants getting looser and I'm almost ready to go down two pant sizes.

At this pace, by end of Q1'24 I should firmly be back to what I weighed in senior year of uni. Before summer I should be in and around my sophomore year weight.

No I mean 355lbs is my regular squat. I can push to maybe 365/370. I did 300/305 just as a maintenance since my knee was feeling a bit funny.

Calorie intake, yes. Food scale, measuring cups and all of that. The food scale is very easy to use and volumetric cooking really should be the standard moving forward. Weigh item 1, clear the scale (tare), weigh item 2, rinse and repeat. Add up the calories of all the ingredients and log it.

For protein, I don't track as intently to be honest. I just try to get a good bit of protein in all my meals and I supplement with protein shakes during the day (60g between both). I'm cutting so the protein intake helps keep me satiated and while I'm cutting I'm noticing I'm still holding onto muscle mass (but I do lift heavy)

Really depends on your goals. I think it’s worth tracking seriously at some point. You eventually get a gauge of what your normally eat comes out to. I think most people who are dialed have tracked and can guesstimate as needed after a while.

Of course if you need to hit specific numbers then yes you need to track because calories are sneaky and it’s easy to over shoot targets.

I never paid. It was always informal. Now, on weekends it's a little more organized (league-play), so it might be different.

Ben Yanes has had enough.
The science-based training community has gone too far.
