That's the wrong type of mindset imo. You should not be worried about what other people are doing in the gym.

For someone just starting, it won't hold you back too much. Just focus on getting in, working hard, and getting out.

^This.

The folks hanging around/out are usually the folks that are more likely to help you out. They may know things about diet, exercise, equipment, or even the facility that you would otherwise have to discover yourself.

As long as they're not hanging out in a squat rack, what's the issue? :ld:

Appreciate the advice man. Right now I'm more so looking to shed weight so I'm more cardio-focused. My biggest concern with PF is the price tag. I'm not looking to spend an exorbitant amount of money but I don't want a bunch of fools just standing around "hanging out" in the gym either. Or is that an issue regardless of the price tag?
Unless you're doing cardio only leave PF alone...its an enablers gym breh

Got it in at the house because of getting outta class late
3 min of sledgehammer swings
Tire flips up and back the yard
Tire drags the same way
Then carried it the length of the yard and back
3 min of battle ropes
1 handed 10/2 swings
20 burpee tire flips
3 min of heavy bag squats
is 10&2s

Thanks for the info. But what do u mean by enablers gym exactly?

meaning they baby you instead of getting tough love and motivation to build a better you physically...a gym chain that has pizza as a regular thing is not a gym for anyone :scust:

you gotta go to a gym where you can really get something out of it..price is inconsequential breh..health is wealth

Any solid recommendations? I'm leaning towards Blink or Crunch. I agree health is wealth but I'm looking to establish a solid routine before I consider upgrading to a more luxurious setting.

Random question. A breh is finally looking to get serious about working out and improving my physical health. My biggest issue now is figuring out what gym to join. Does anybody have any feedback or suggestions in making this decision? In particular, for gyms located in the Brooklyn/NYC area? Based on the research I've conducted, I'm leaning towards a gym along the lines of Blink/Planet Fitness/Crunch. I'm brand new to the workout scene so I'm not looking to shell out the money for Equinox-type gyms just yet. Thanks in advance!

I personally go to blink...

Planet fitness don't have any free barbell weights..I wouldn't touch it at all

Crunch if I recall has alot of different shyt, but I'm not sure about the barbell free weights

between those 2 its all the same...i know of crunch because a jumpoff of mine of many years ago used to go to one...for me i judge a gym on the free weights...esp dumbbells...if they dont have 100 lbs or higher at the minimum its not for me lol...and usually the gyms within each chain might be different so id really go and check the facilities in person...see if they will let you finesse a free trial or something
