That's why I said if he was serious about lifting, spending a little extra and getting a full rack is the way to go. I would say if you are looking to put a home gym together, you are not in the 95% you are describing. Also most full rack have almost every accessory you could need which, once again if you're serious about lifting, you will be wanting at some point. He doesn't need to get a 1k rack, but for what he's spending on the squat stands, he could add another 200-300 and get a quality rack.
