Hit the core hard last night.... gotta build these abs by any means necessary.

I love how after a workout, you get that heightened awareness feeling of whatever you worked on. Was walking around, feeling my body in balance and flexing my abs and lower back muscles for the hell of it

Just my .02. :yeshrug: A lot of cats be adding accessory work for every little thing, to the point that they start "majoring in the minors" and the accessory work begins to overshadow the main lift work. (This assumes they're even doing appropriate main lift work in the first place.)

Again, for someone who pulls more than anyone else here, that's just what's worked for me. :hubie: Also not frying your CNS will help, as a symptom of CNS fatigue is decreased grip strength.

One of the dudes in here telling you to work it directly is also using straps on the trap bar, so there's that... :sas2:

glad y'all discussed that because I thought about this last week, wondering if I should be doing anything specific for forearms. Of course I'm doing calis, and I can feel my forearms getting worked when I'm doing pushups and dips, but was wondering if I should add something specific.

but if #powdaboyz say it ain't necessary, it ain't necessary :wow:

Why do you feel like you need to add something for forearms? What are you trying to achieve?

Never said it wasn't necessary, just that it is extraneous for the level at which most folks (i.e. not advanced) operates at. :francis:
I wouldn't even worry about it until you start lifting for several years. :hubie:

To piggy back off this. Alot of times you hear people say no matter what I do, I can't build _____. I ask them what does your squat, deadlift, row, etc look like? Folks spend more of their time focusing on accessories and barely any effort doing compound exercises:hhh:

Exactly, even if your goals are not numbers, Oly lifting, powerlifting, whatever, those lifts still have tremendous value and folks skipping or neglecting them for the sake of accessory work are doing themselves a huge injustice.

It's called "majoring in the minors" and it's a symptom of ignorance and lack of proper training experience, plain and simple.
:francis:

You'd never meet a college student and ask them what they study and hear them bring up their 4 minors and no major but that's exactly what folks do when it comes to lifting.
:mjlol:

All the folks that physically *can* barbell squat/bench/press/row/dead but choose not to and instead start their 5 day split on the cable machines or the lat pulldown station or the leg press are usually the folks most guilty of this.
