How many brehs work out till they are in PAIN?

I'm not talking about being sore. I'm talking about having a deep deep painful ache that feels like it goes deep into the fissures of your muscle, through and through, all the way down to the bone?

I've been pushing myself harder than I've ever pushed myself before, and when I think I don't have anything left to give, I dig down deep and keep going.

And I've noticed that when I push myself to that point, that's when I feel that deep PAIN.

I love it. :wow:

No but I’m old so pain is no bueno

I feel you.

I'm not a gym scientist like y'all brothas in here so I can only speak from anecdotal evidence... the anecdote being my own...

But my working theory is that when you push yourself to that point, you see gains quicker. I've noticed that with my body.

Yes and no. It could be that’s the level it takes for you you hit that point but of course someone else could program a different way and hit the same result relative to themselves. Really not a right or wrong method, just finding what’s optimal for the individual. At a base level “gains” means so many different things.

Well I'm doing all calisthenics so I'm definitely going a lot harder than I would if I was benching or deadlifting.

Let me repeat... I have NOT tried this method with weights.

What are gains to you?

I'm a big proponent of weights and am anti-calis so this is something I definitely don't do.

In fact, besides a little muscle tightness from not stretching enough, I'm never in pain.

I don't chase pain or the pump, I chase numbers, and you don't need to beat yourself into a pulp to chase those. :wow:

Well that's the same thing I'm chasing but in my situation, I'm chasing reps.

Last night, I did 325 pushups. Trying to work my way up to 600.

And in terms of what I was feeling, let me explain.

Around the 125 mark is when I started to feel tight but I kept going.

Around 175 my triceps and forearms started to get the deep pain aching feeling.

Around 250, I started to feel that same feeling in my pecs. That was new. I've felt it in my triceps and my forearms many times, but feeling it in my actual chest?

That was different. It's kind of hard to explain. It's like a pain that goes beyond muscle soreness. The pain is deeper than just muscle soreness.

But even tho it hurts like hell, I don't mind it because as I was saying before, I notice more gains when I work out to that point.

I’ve never felt sore during a workout due to the workout. Post workout DOMS for sure. With that level and reps it’s a ton of blood and fluid flowing through and that can “hurt”. I get that
