@Gully Bull The best things for getting your DL 1RM are more than likely Pendlay rows, front squats, hypers, and opposite stance deadlifts (so sumo if you pull conventional). Feel free to add deficit deadlifts (weak at the bottom) or rack pulls (weak at lock out).

@Gully Bull The best things for getting your DL 1RM are more than likely Pendlay rows, front squats, hypers, and opposite stance deadlifts (so sumo if you pull conventional). Feel free to add deficit deadlifts (weak at the bottom) or rack pulls (weak at lock out).
The kettlebell swing is what most lifters are first exposed to with kettlebell training. Speaking from experience, the kettlebell swing can add serious increases to your deadlift numbers. Over the course of about a month, deadlift max went from 405 to 455 without doing deadlifts and just focusing on kettlebell swings.The 1RM deadlift and the kettlebell swing are at two ends of the same hip hinge spectrum. Integrating the strength of lats, core and posterior chain is equally necessary for a heavy pull and a powerful ballistic. In this way, the deadlift and swing are very complimentary to each other. The plight of the powerlifter is living in a world where all hip hinges are hard grinds. The quick, powerful nature of the swing helps to fill gaps in the hip hinge pattern - increasing strength while sparing the spine.

Kettlebell swings improve maximal and explosive strength, both of which translate to bigger deadlift numbers. One six week study of training the swing biweekly (either with 12 kg or 16 kg kettlebells) used twenty-one healthy men. Both maximal strength and explosive strength improved significantly, 9.8% and 19.8% respectively.

This is important because increased maximal strength naturally means an increase in the amount of force you can produce for one all-out lift. The stronger you are, the more you can lift.

I do kettlebell swings in catch wrestling combat sambo and Muay training. I even had a professional power lifter say kettlebell swings helped with his deadlift. I'll attempt straight bar:yeshrug: haven't done over 405 on it.

:smugbiden: had a smoothie for lunch, dinner was steamed shrimp and lamb chops.

First violation was using and promoting an unapproved #Powda®. Need you to bush that Brain Blitz ish and get on this Pre-Jymmy.

Second violation was promoting the use of KBs without prior authorization. KB Swings are not on my official list of accessories therefore they cannot be used. :mjlol:

As for this birthday DL, you still got almost 2 weeks to blast that straight bar.

I was pulling so much the ripped gym creh one rack over that I sometimes talk to hit the :dahell: "is the bar bending when you pull that?" when I only had 5 wheels on the bar. :mjlol: He should see what it looks like when I max out.:francis:
