O2 Gym Tip of the Day: Weight Training Helps You Burn More Calories Every Day
Although a weight-training workout doesn't typically burn as many calories as a cardio workout, it has other important benefits.
For example, weight training is more effective than cardio at building muscle, and muscle burns more calories at rest than some other tissues, including fat. Because of this, it is commonly said that building muscle is the key to increasing your resting metabolism — that is, how many calories you burn at rest.
Research has shown that you burn more calories in the hours following a weight training session, compared to a cardio workout. Bottom Line: LIFT!!

Man, I'm fukking dying to be back in the gym...These last 3 months have been a mothafukker.

I'll try not to be too long winded but a week before Christmas I was in a major car accident where a teen driver t-boned me going about 40-50 mph then fled on foot after totaling both of our SUV's.

Miraculously (and i say miraculously cause everyone who saw my vehicle including EMS said I was lucky to be alive) only ended up with severely bruised ribs, multiple contusions & lacerations from head to toe on left side of my body, 7 stitches, a corneal abrasion in right eye & moderate trigeminal nerve damage on left side of my head. Anyways, had to rest and recover and see a PT & chiropractor (referred to by my attorney) for about 5 weeks which helped but even after I felt up to it, they wouldn't clear me to do any strenuous activity until the end of January because it could hurt my upcoming settlement from the accident.

Finally cleared in early February to resume exercise but it was a struggle and I'd lost a good amount of strength and my cardio was horrible but I was getting back into my regular routine (I'm OCD as fukk so I needed to go back to my normal schedule) & regaining strength slowly so it was good. Rewind to November and I'm meeting an ENT specialist for CT scan results after suffering from roughly my 8th sinus infection in 2 years, diagnosed with a deviated septum & completely opacified right sinus cavity, which requires surgery to fix but will most definitely put an end to my chronic sinusitis. Wanted to put it off til summer but decided to do it 2 weeks ago since I already was laid up for so long cause of the accident. I'm recovering from now and im feeling better but I still can't lift more than 50 pounds for at least another week. I'm hoping that by this coming Wednesday, my doc will fully clear me and I can get back in the gym.

Sorry for the long ass story but I'm so fukking ready to finally be healthy, get back to it and get my strength back.

I'll be going from:mjcry: to :blessed:once I can get back to my normal splits...

One Day At A Time, that's my motto. You will get there, there's no rush. Your body went through a shock of its life and about to go through another shock. Remember The Gym is mental too. Good luck on your return

Oh yea, been kinda strict with the eating, got 6 of the 8 lbs of water/bloat off. Gonna try to keep it together this weekend so I can actually lose by the end of next week.

Next week is my rest week, I usually do a couple high intensity/high impact cardio sessions/classes, 4 days of walking and 2-3 days of yoga. I usually need this week for joints to recover, let the muscles relax, flush lactic acid and lose some of the swelling from lifting, and drop lbs. Something about lifting keeps my body from shedding weight, but during my rest week, all the dieting seems to catch up and finally show on the scale.

Thanks yo and what you said is very true.

My fam & friends have said the same thing and it's tough but I'm impatiently waiting and I'll make sure to be ready mentally & physically.

Right On! Start priming your body with healthy foods, vitamins. Do push ups, sit ups, Body squats. Go for walks at a quiet park and a lake to clear your mind and get your mind, body and spirit ready.

And visualize, lot of people don't do that that's why they look the same, Visualize the weight, you doing the excersie, how you want to look, you building that mind muscle connection.

Just realized today that I neglect Abdominal exercises...I'm going to start tossing in some ab work once or twice a week....I guess it's true what they say everyone has Abs it's just hanging out under a layer of fat so abs are made in the kitchen and you engage them in a lot of the compound lifts anyway.

Me too, I just start doing some ab excersie only to build core strength.

I got my six pack by just walking, jogging and eating right one day I woke up looked in the mirror and was like:ohhh:
