I thought it was my "fault" for a while because I was pretty dogmatic about my various approaches but I've become way les rigid in terms of individual approach as I try to figure this all out. That said I've got friends and co-workers flirting with potential problems down the road that are trying to do just enough to get out of danger and maintain their current lifestyle. Generally speaking people don't have an issue losing weight the struggle is keeping it off.Why is keeping off more complicated? If you commit to making the necessary lifestyle adjustments (eating better, being more active etc) shouldn't you be good?

Why is long answer. Eating better is vague to a lot of people and being more active isn't always clear cut.
I 100% agree but looking at it for the general population, what is sold are quick fixes as opposed to a lifestyle change.Fair.
I'll just say that from my family members that I saw lose substantial weight eg 50lbs or more, there are some key things I've seen them do even after the weight came of.
1. Less drinking
2. More veggies, less meat
3. Exercising like 3 times a week
4. Social activities are centered more around sports rather than eating etc
I think if you lose the weight long term sustainably then keeping it off shouldnt be a problem.
The people that don't keep it off are the ones that regress to old habits simple.
If you cut out soda to lose weight then go back to drinking it after you drop the weight then of course you'll bounce back. It's really mental shift in how you approach eating, working out and living as a whole.
I'm the opposite, I have very little appetite at night, I can easily skip dinner or have something like a bowl of cereal and be fine (In fact I kinda hate dinner), but that 1-5pm window is when I'm likely to want unhealthy stuffI'm I the only one who finds it easy to eat "healthy" at breakfast and lunch, but when I get home after work I get crazy cravings. Worse, if I'm up late reading, doing research or working, I want to snack on straight trashy foods.
