It's really not though; she linked you to a meal plan... go to the link and follow the plan. Dieting is actually very simple.... pick 2-4 breakfasts, lunches and dinners that add up to the calories you want to hit, do cardio 2-3 times a week, and stick to the plan. If you try to wing it you're definitely gonna fail; you have to have a plan and execute on it.
not really the tips, but the journey.
the lifestyle change, always having to psych yourself into thinking healthy.

thinking you're on the right track but theres still much to do.
or maybe I'm seeing it differently.

If you aren't a supper focused person then just winging it will do that. When you have a plan you can lean on that. Right now you don't have one so that makes it easier to backslide IMO. Goals can always seem unattainable when you don't have a plan to achieve them.

You don't have to constantly psyche yourself up. Being on a good diet is just a matter of making consistently good decisions. Decide what you are going to eat for the day well in advance. You get a craving or some sabotage (like a cupcake party at work or something), decide NOT to give in, or to give in and make up for it later. Etc. It's not easy but it's very simple and once you get in the habit it gets a lot easier.

I guess my approach was "at least make the effort to change some things and go to the gym more and you'll see something." coming from a very inactive lifestyle and depression cycles, i'll admit goal setting isn't a strength of mine.

buckling down and deciding how to move forward is gonna have to be my best move. or else i'll be in this limbo forever.

Small steps are a good start but just judging by your post and demeanor you are easily discouraged. "Something" may not be enough to keep you moving in the right direction.

When I cut I didn't use MyFitnessPal even though I had it. I had a scale but I didn't always use it. All I did was cut my carbs in half and ate more protein. If I have 4 meals (not counting shakes) two would be carb free.

Instead of tuna fish on bread I'd throw it on some lettuce with avocado. I'd have salmon with just broccoli.

I did my cardio and as long as I lost a lb a week I wasn't stressing it. After preparing the same foods over and over I had an idea of what I was getting in macros. I'll probably be more disciplined my next cut.

I'm an ectomorph though so gaining weight feels harder than losing it:mjgrin:

Just gonna go that much harder on cardio tonight and tomorrow, we are still on track :manny:

When you're doing preacher curls is it better to have a narrow or wide grip? I've always used the narrow grip without thinking about it until today and did the last 2 sets wide

That and I'm also very self conscious. I don't do certain things in the gym in fear of looking stupid.

But I found this app that has different plans according to your fitness goal. Found this 5 week program that focuses on certain areas with cardio. Might incorporate that while starting each workout with 30 minutes of cardio.

I'm gonna go back to that meal plan (never really left it. Just haven't been eating enough to follow it).

I'm easily discouraged and also give in to negativity very easily. I guess it comes with the territory of confidence not being so high.

Gym bro answer would be narrow for that long head/peak bicep workout...do both and hit both bicep heads.:yeshrug:
