I heard Rae, who is my top 3 rapper, talk about this....
But I don't know if a movie was a good idea.

Wu Tang and NWA aren't the same type of group with the same story.

NWA is over, so there can pretty much be an ending to the movie.

Wu is still doing their thing and there's alot of members, a movie couldn't pull off the whole story in a good way.

The series was the best option.
But it's splitting hairs. Both would have been successful as the other.

Rae just salty RZA didnt go with his idea.

They got 3 seasons out of the series :yeshrug:

yeah I dont see how this is logical

all them dudes complain about money but want to lease themselves out, when they could do the video under their own umbrella
act like Rza doesnt have connects that actually hire Leonardo Dicaprio to do their movies brehs :russ: of course you could make bread worldwide etc but you could do it yourself the same way. You'd be splitting your money 10 ways before you even saw any of it, if you hired a crew to maintain your crew, before you even get paid inside of your crew... for a portion of a story between 9 people even after that. You're looking at dividing 30% left over 9 ways. Keep that shyt minimum and in house, there's plenty of people who will work way cheaper so everyone can eat.

Rae was only concerned with getting that Exec Producer bag. He's definitely not gonna look out to make sure Math gets a gig on the show, or Intell making it to both seasons. And they definitely wouldn't be able to get the entire Clan bags and input. Hell, Street prob gonna be in S3. Plus, Rae didn't even understand the Hollywood production budget, so while he would've got his, the rest of the Clan would be hella light.

Also RZA was 100% right in making the series over the movie. RZA is the creator, executive producer, a writer AND Director of the series. He also has the other members as executive producers and Mathematics as a creative consultant. There’s no WAY he would have gotten that kind of power doing a big budget Hollywood film. RZA was right
Plus the movie would've been pigeonholed into the same ol' shytty ass music biopic formula they've been pumping out for the last 30 years. Prolly woulda had a scene of RZA playing the C.R.E.A.M loop on the piano like he came up with it, the hook spontaneously springing to Meth's head and transition directly into them performing it on stage :mjlol:

I feel like the series gives more room to breath and tell the story

Only fukk up is Hulu only being available in the US limits the broad appeal of the show but I'd be curious if Disney plus airs it internationally later or if it can get shopped to a global streamer

It needed to be a movie so they could the cool shyt they’ve done so far. For example, the Making of Protect Your Neck episode was so good, it should be nominated for an Emmy. It was one of the most interesting and unique concepts, I have ever seen on TV.

I agree they messed up BIGTIME not making the movie.... That would have brought the young audience around to them and see what they are about and to check out some of their music, plus we wan't an accurate story as well! It was a huge missed opportunity for sure.

How are you getting an accurate story when there's 9 members in the group plus Divine and Power? The movie would've excluded most of the members like the NWA movie barely gave Ren and Yella any time.

Rae said he wanted to show things like Ghost getting shot out of state. That's not getting into a 2 hour film. They'd all be mad about not getting screen time. It would've been RZA and Meth getting most of the shine. Rae would've been an afterthought in a movie he helped set up:mjlol:

A TV show was the only way to go about it.

Rae seems like a thorough dude that'll fight with you back to back.

But seems to step on everything Wu related since Forever released.

I started reading pieces of it. He blames RZA for everything...even his own albums flopping. Mef catches a few shots too. And anyone that doesn't agree with him doesn't want to go against RZA. He knows damn well RZA ain't have shyt to do with Once Upon a Time, but RZA catches it for that too.

Make it make sense to me. You have a man in an Oscar nominated movie, critically acclaimed projects playing you, but they wanted to write you out?

Almost forgot about this jawn.

It's been said time and time again, but RZA needs a medal for putting up with these dudes as a complete crew for 30 years. There's no other scenario in which any other person could lead such a crop of personalities, and them all be successful while maintaining the brand.
