But as far as movies go…. U can’t develop strong characters especially nine of em in a 2 hour movie the way you can in a series. I honestly feel like the show is the best way to go. Rae and ghost becoming best friends despite coming from hoods that was at war…. Rza and the murder beefs….. meth deck and uey in the streets hustling barely avoiding major jail time….odb crazy p*ssy hounding ass… not to mention power and divine. And this is just all the stuff going on pre 36 chambers. Still gotta cover post 36 chambers…. The flood…. The making of the first round solo albums….Rza beefin with rae and odb behind scenes…. Powers return to the streets while trying to keep his younger brother out and turn him into a rapper….ghost and whatever crazy street shyt he was on that led to him going around with bullet proof vests and supposedly still robbin nikkaz at the time lol it’s just tooooopoo fukkin much for one movie imo
This. One 2 to 3 hour movie is not going to adequately invest you in 10 characters. Their story is too vast. If RZA played it like described, that was kinda fukked up though.

That's not exactly what happened. Both of them spoke on it in interviews when Season 1 was in production.

They had a discussion about it. Rae wanted to do a movie, RZA was telling him that their story is too big for a movie. He told Rae to start moving on it, and if he could get the backers they'd highly consider it, but he was also in the process shopping ideas for the show. By the time Rae got Leo, RZA had to already have the ink signed for everything for the series. The movie is STILL a possibility.

But Rae is a hater, so that is probably how he felt at the time. But he knew about RZA wanting to do a series as well.

RZA getting a seperate deal isn't the issue it is his lack of communication. Why are you wasting other People's time when you know what you plan to do? When Rae stepped to you RZA should have said he has something in process. That's Wack.

He did tell him that. Google "Leo Wu-Tang Movie" and such. The problem was timing.

Another thing is that at this point they had Wu-Wednesday calls, so they ALL knew RZA (and Meth) were working on getting the series. Rae just wanted to do the movie on his own accord.

Gotcha, maybe they should have pivoted to pitching a Staircase to Stage movie.

Guess I’m in the minority, the TV show is great and the better route. :yeshrug:

Agreed RZA was a dikk about how he did it, but that’s true the character he displayed on the show too :lolbron:
I think people would be fine if he just told them.

Because of this, they started having weekly calls a few years ago. Wu-Wednesday, and they all jump on and talk about what they're working or got going on. This pretty much started after some huge meeting they had between A Better Tomorrow & Once Upon a Time release. Everyone was at the meeting including Power, Divine, Mook etc. But Rae knew about them with series, but it pretty much was a race. He didn't get Leo right away. He had the idea with no working parts, while they at least already had interest.

Dude was interested in nothing OTHER than the TV show, and Rae calls him out (getting writer, creator, producer credits) and the crew gets a "fee". Movie would've been HUGE domestically and internationally. RZA dumb as shyt.
Movie wouldn’t have been as big as you think it would have.

and your reasoning is? if they had the marketing budget close to the NWA flick, Wu-tang is still big domestically with most of the core fan base approaching middle age or at middle age, internationally we know the WU is recgonized.
