To me its just all tribalism. One tribe who thinks his/her culture is superior to another tribe. And I heard of HBO and Haitians not only pretending to be Jamaican, but Cuban, Dominican and even French!:snoop: True story.

IMO we should all celebrating our differences AND work together . but people on both sides take it too far (AAs being xenophobic Caribbeans and Africans looking down)

This Willie Lynch division is bullshyt and I'm sick of it quite frankly.

I will say that there's blood on both parties' hands. Haitians/Caribbeans come to America for a better standard of living. They emphasize education and financial stability and independence. As far as the beef between AAs and Haitians, AAs clowned Haitians for being broke, having accents, their language, how they tend to dress, and their lack of familiarity and connection with AA culture. Combine this with the fact that American society demonized Haitians as HIV-carrying, voodoo-mongering deviants and you can understand how Haitians felt very disrespected not only by white society but by AAs. In turn, Haitians drew the line in the sand and looked down on AA culture and how it's general lack of upward mobility despite AAs' relative lack of struggle compared to that of Haitians' (migrating to a foreign country; having to learn a foreign language, working menial jobs, etc.). Haitians became comfortable with the fact that they were outsiders and used their isolation to focus on education and building wealth. And many Haitians saw that they were achieving more success than their AA counterparts who, in their view, suffered from a victim mentality and refused to control their individual and collective destiny.

The beef boils down to blacks not accepting each other and resorting to tribalism. And while this continues to this day, white people are laughing until their faces are beet red.

i feel bad for the Haitians because at least Jamaicans could hide their accents/learn to dress like AA etc, most Haitians couldn't do that. but anyway now being Haitian is accepted and even "cool" especially in hip hop (see Future, Fetty Wap, Wayne etc.)

That's not just a black thing tho. Arabs and Persians are beefing. Asians are beefing with each other over there. Eastern Europeans stay in some shyt.

It's good that we're aware and aspire for better. But let's not label it a black thing. It's human nature

I understand that but tribalism is more damning to blacks than it is to Arabs and Persians because the black community is already far more fragmented than they are and is in no position to be doing this to each other.

Meet the Chairman

Though all commissioners are eligible to chair the full board, the only candidates nominated Monday were Monestime and Audrey Edmonson. Edmonson, however, declined the nomination.

“I think, for once, this commission needs to move forward without us competing against each other,” she said.

Commissioners praised Edmonson’s move as gallant. No vote had been taken, but it appeared clear that she would not have had a majority of votes to win anyway.

@Dip

Agreed 100%.

But Atlanta seems to be an example of AA's and foreign blacks putting aside their difference and just eating together...:ehh:

Haitians seem comfortable there. Especially the rappers like Future.
ive been thinking about moving to Atlanta:ehh:

Sidenote is Future really Haitian? I hate when people pretend to be something they not, especially women who say they got Spanish or Cherokee in them:pachaha:

Just admit u like other people's cultures

Yeah Future is Haitian. At first I didnt believe it(similar to how people say Rick Ross is Haitian when he's not), but he is and so is Rich the Kid.

And yes blacks in Atlanta are generally friendly towards foreign blacks and foreign blacks stay eating in Atlanta. Just must be the southern hospitality.

Though the foreign blacks down there are VERY Americanized. And yeah I hate it when people have so much self hate to the point where they not only claim another culture, but even rep their flag!!

In Miami wasn't the so-called AA's really First, second and third generation Bahamians.

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

Any folks from Miami can validate this?

Yes Coconut Grove was the first settlement for Bahamian blacks in Miami.
Overtown became the place where blacks from other US cities to live in plus Bahamians who worked on the Railroads.

:snoop:

Again with the "big bad black people always picking on me" narrative

Haitians and other immigrants are not completely innocent in all of this. Some of them come here guns a blazing already looking down on blacks from what they've seen on tv(which is extremely ironic) For living in impoverished area(also extremely ironic) Acting like they own the place when they wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for the work that's been put in. The majority conveniently came post civil rights. You don't think American blacks don't feel some type of way on our end because of that

As far as doing better with education,jobs etc- The Caribbean/Haitian population is so small in comparison to ours, that its not even worth comparing.

Blacks who helm from predominately black countries, who run from them, and come here bragging about how much better their doing than blacks in a predominately cac country. Is some batman with prep time level c00ning
