go talk to any Haitians that grew up during that time, especially the ones in Brooklyn or Miami.
@Dip
Agreed 100%.
But Atlanta seems to be an example of AA's and foreign blacks putting aside their difference and just eating together...
Haitians seem comfortable there. Especially the rappers like Future.
Black meccaYeah in Atlanta I don't notice any beef between Caribbeans, Africans, and African Americans.
what is blackBlack mecca
We know damn well AAs make up 90% of the prominent black people in the mass media. How they conduct themselves has a ripple effect
Hence since Kanye made N words in paris the world has become somewhat socially acceptable. MFs in Africa can't point USA on the map but can recite pac rhymes word for word.
If we're gonna sit here and downplay AAs cultural influence on the black nation, you're in the wrong place.
what is black
This has to be the dumbest post in a forum called "the root"I think all the blacks from this hemisphere should start their history from the moment we were brought here.
All that older stuff is good to know but not necessary.
This is what I came to say. Like Chinese or Korean they have community support that AA haven't figured out yet. That is important. Still skeptical as to why this article was written, now. Just don't trust it.Seen it 1st hand. Those folks have a sense of community though and will click up and help each other out. No handouts but they will help you get a leg up to do it on your own. The mistrust isn't as deep as the African American community.
Plus they put all their focus on work, work work and going to school. Basically no complaining cuz they too busy learning the system and using it. I give Caribbean folks for the most part one thing, they don't care about Cacs, they don't care about black folks, all they care about is them and their family and to succeed. You're looked down on if you not on that same wave.
First of all, contrary to ignorant belief, Carribean is not interchangeable with "West Indian". West Indian people are strictly from Trinidad.
Second, the assertion Carribean blacks are not "black" but African Americans "are black" defies logic.
Now I know you aren't from the Caribbean
Because the term West Indies/West Indians is used to describe former colonies of Great Britain. This goes back to Christopher Columbus times
