“I don’t wanna be a nikka paying so much attention to the fukkiing
networking and all that other shyt and I’m not paying’ no attention to
these rhymes. That’s what made me get to where I’m at so I gotta make sure
the lyrics is hard.”

He was talking about Redman ca Dare Iz A Darkside era. This interview was from 1994-95 on a canadian magazine.

That's why i constantly keep telling people how much they re-write shyt about the 90s. Now, in hindsight, things look so much greater to some of yall..but thats not realistic. People were naggin just the same back then too, not just Biggie. shyt, Biggie got shytted on ALOT on the east too cuz they felt his sound was too "westcoast-ish sounding" & too "pop sounding" & "flossy" etc.

But of course most were KIDS at the time so yall grew up LEARNING and LISTENING so many just go based off the nostalgia factor on what they were conditioned to hear & like..but of course people were naggin ALOT in the "golden era" (lmao) too. But hip-hop wasnt as BIG commercially - yet!

this is so true

i knew people who loved wu-tang but hated BIG

BIGs critiques was hes too commercial and that he wasnt very lyrical in comparison to others at the time

half of heads i knew hated bad boy in general and looked at that as wack sellout rap

same thing nas got pegged for doin on his sophomore. people wer saying nas went the bad boy route

at the time trackmasters was known for RnB remixes and mainstream shyt like BIGs singles

people being labeled sellouts was an everyday occurence

the idea of purists in hip-hop is as old as the craft itself

by the time the jiggy era peaked it left little to no room for growth and the internet was emerging which became detrimental to the sound

after RAWKUS (watered down LOUD) folded it was a wrap

but like all good things it never died

Warren G was on the ave. drinking Crazyhorse and shyt, you know what I’m
saying”cause I ain’t gonna lie, I ain’t going to his hood, staight up!

haaa haa. all that issh talking biggie was doing he was still too shook to step into a L.A. hood.
Warren g is from long beach..been confirmed by la and Compton nikkas that biggie used to come through their hoods

Maybe I’m late but only thing I got from this is he didn’t diss roots in the flavor remix.

I’m still saying roots when I rap it. :birdman:

RA was in denial, Biggie really didn't like some of the rappers he did songs with. Same with Pun. I think there's an interview where NORE said pun would call him up and be like, lets get this check i dont even know who these dudes are, they wack, but f*ck it we getting paid! :russ::russ:
I'm 100% sure Nore was talking about Crooked Lettaz when he said this :francis:

Funny, because his verse is roasted garbage.
