I'll be honest brehs these dudes need to start investing in bulletproof vests. I just feel like that one thing will save hundreds of lives. We can talk all we want but ain't nothing gonna stop these dudes from shooting each other. That's just the way it is now.

I feel like some rapper or entrepreneur should start working on bulletproof clothing. Bulletproof hats, shirts and jackets. I mean they do have stuff already like this

http://www.bulletblocker.com/bullet-proof-clothing.html

But I feel like they need to steer it more towards urban wear. Honestly it wouldn't be a bad idea setting up stores like this in the hood.

i wish i could tell you.:mjcry: So many different factors at play. :mjcry:So many different systemic tactics being employed to PURPOSELY keep people in poverty and thus creating this hopelessness:mjcry:. So many of us TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to the fact that we're being systematically oppressed to begin with:mjcry: So much self-hate:mjcry: No positive role models and images to give our youth aspirations of what they could be in life:mjcry: A culture of ignorance has to be overcome:mjcry: A gang culture has to be overcome:mjcry: 500+ years of mental conditioning since we've been here in Amerikkka has to be overcome:mjcry:

:mjcry:
breh how are people purposely kept in poverty?
Every dude I knew that grew up in the hood, and did the right things got out of poverty.

Im just tired of the conspiracy theories...because all they do is make people feel like its impossible to come up.
Successful black people, and these clowns in the hood have totally different habits...so why act like these cats shooting shyt up are victims of the system?
Plus...I hear so many stories of kids in the hood trying to do right...but they get jumped on, beat up etc... by other black people just because they are neutron.

I read a report that investigated this. They looked at why some people in very bad neighborhoods don't commit crimes and they basically said it all came down to a person's future outlook. The further out in the future a person envisioned their life, the less likely they were to commit a crime. Some of these folks can't even see their lives past this week. Imagine how that would feel. Imagine just going with the flow on some day to day shyt because you can't even see yourself or what your life is like a week from now. From that lens it's easy to understand how folks can make these bad choices.

So the solution lies in giving these kids something to look forward to. Rap can do that in some ways, most nikkas who are successful leave the street life alone. Hell look at Snoop at 19 and now. Look at Cube.

But everyone can't be rappers so there's gotta be another way.
yep, everything you said is true: Here's one of my fav Boyce Watkins vids that touches on what you are saying. Its kinda lenghty so i quoted the 2 most important statements that was touched on and is why partly i feel that rap is playing a bigger role than most people think.

"In order to control a group of people, to destroy a group of people, you TAKE OVER THE MINDS' OF IT'S YOUTH"

"What you do for yourself, what you do to yourself, and what you allow other people to do to you is based on what you think about yourself. What you think about yourself is based upon what you've been taught about yourself. What you've been taught about yourself is based upon everything you've read, heard, and seen about yourself. So when you control the radius of a man's thoughts, you control the CIRCUMFERENCE OF HIS ACTIONS. The mind cant do what it doesn't know. So CONTROLLING PEOPLE"S ACCESS TO INFORMATION , controlling their CIRCUMFERENCE OF AWARENESS is extremely important"

Basicly(compared to the youth of other groups) blacks have a smaller "circumference of awareness". Meaning they have little to no POSITIVE sounds and images of people that look like themselves to draw inspiration from. Instead of positive and motivating images of successful black people the main images black youth see of themselves look more like this:

These are the images that our youth sees of themselves. It lowers their self-esteem. It tells them that there's nothing BEYOND THE HOOD. Our youth cant see themselves off the block because they literally cant imagine anything beyond their own neighborhoods. Their "circumference of awareness" is extremely limited. They cant imagine being a doctor, lawyer, dentist, scholar, physician, teacher, astronaut, surgeon, etc because they've literally never seen anyone that looks like them be those things. again, CIRCUMFERENCE OF AWARENESS. They grow up seeing drug dealers and murderers. THOSE are the type of people they are influenced by. Those are the type of people that they aspire to be. Now this is where rap comes into play. Along with all of these negative influences in these kids day to day life, add on top the massive amounts of negative rap that floods these kids minds. Add the negative images of rappers holding rifles, making it rain in clubs and drinking lean and these kids literally cant imagine themselves beyond the block. Dope video, i hope a few of you take the time to watch it inits entirety. Lots of knowledge dropped
