Actually that caused a fashion trend amongst young fans from my generation. Also they will be remembered for more than that. Kriss Kross literally opened the door for every adolescent emcee to come after them as far as success. "Another Bad Creation" dropped before them but they were a mix of rapping and RnB. Kriss Kross from a straight rapping standpoint opened up that door for Shyhiem, Da Youngstas, Illegal, A+, Lil Bow Wow, Lil Romeo, Lil Wayne and even B.G. since they were young when they rapped all owe their careers to Kriss Kross kicking down the door making it normal for someone young to rap on a mainstream level. I really think people are missing the Impact they had. Let me put this in perspective:

"Totally Krossed Out" was the HIGHEST SELLING RAP ALBUM of 1992. A Year that saw Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" released and Arrested Development's "2 days, 5 months and 3 years in the life of" released. They were in cameos from Michael Jackson, Run DMC, TLC. They were on Oprah. They had a video game, they literally made So So Def a label with their success. No Child Emcees have yet to surpass the success of their debut. None of the adolescent emcees I named moved 4x Platinum. What JD and these little guys accomplished was Historic in Hip Hop History.

They didn't open the door for Da Youngstas though:manny:

RIP to Chris Kelly. I bumped Kris Kross back in the day and was saddened to hear this. They might not have had longevity but they sold some albums and had a movement for a while with the backwards clothes. And not trying to make this a comparison thread but Kris Kross shytted on ABC back in the day. Abc might have dropped first but Kriss Kross took over for a while when they dropped. I can even remember some old heads jamming to their albums.

Hol up, Totally Krossed Out outsold The Chronic?:dead:

Yep, a lot of people don't know that. "The Chronic" last certification was 3x Platinum from way back in 93. I'm sure it's about 4x Platinum by now. "2001" was Dre's biggest selling album at 6x Platinum. These young dudes moved some units when they dropped.

man this is a sad day for hip-hop.

one of those celebrity deaths that hit you kinda as if you actually knew them.

real spit: my moms called me @ 5:30am and broke the news.:to: she called me bout an hour ago to see if I was cool, cuz she know they was my ninjas.

So many times I heard you rhyme but you can't touch this.
I'm kickin' the type of flow that makes you say "you're too much, Chris"
So feel the fire of the one they call the Mac Dad
The fire's what I pack, and what I pack is read bad.
I like to grab a hold of your soul and never let go
'til they jump, 'til they have to say "hoooooo!"
Now that's the state of mind i'm in -
with rhyme after rhyme I win...

It's amazing what the mind remembers.

warm it up >>>> jump

You outta ya fukkin mind. Young Wayne was a monster

***puts foot down***

this has to stop.

young lil wayne was never taken seriously. he was considered the weakest out of the hot boys. females and kids were the main people getting amped over him for a reason.

lets be real, if he wasn't so close with birdman, he wouldn't have lingered around long enough to meet gillie. thus, he would've faded into oblivion. and this is coming from somebody that liked wayne. even bought his 1st album; despite already borrowing it beforehand, and knowing that the album was like 40% filler.

wayne and them weren't kid rappers tho.
