Isn't Minnesota kinda purple?

Yeah. The Democrats have done well in state-wide elections, they currently have the Governor.

But the Republicans control the state house of representatives by 19 seats and they control the state senate by 1 seat.

Minnesota's congressional delegation in DC is mainly blue... only 3 out of the 8 congressmen are Republicans and both Senators are Dems

“Al has been an ardent advocate for women’s rights and the people of Minnesota. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work for him, and always will be,” said Natalie Volin Lehr, who previously worked in Franken’s office as political director and women’s policy advisor. “I am also a lawyer and firmly believe in due process — it is an absolute travesty that it has not been afforded to him.”

Quote from a woman and colleague. Franken's being railroaded :francis:

I hate that this situation is making me feel like i'm losing my moral compass. :snoop:

I think dude is a shytbag if all the accusation are true. Under normal circumstances I would be ok with him losing his position. But one, when you have one side constantly ceding ground to the other out of some moral obligation while the other side laughs and do not even come close to doing the same you can't help but feel you're being played.

Secondly, and there is a bit of guilt in me saying this but its my honest opinion: Given the above dynamic and game being played by the Republicans, there are more important and serious things at stake than seeing this dude punished for what he did. I feel bad saying that but its true. The current republicans are trying to change the whole culture to the detriment of not just everyday people but to the point that it may actually threaten certain groups, like black folks, actual existence and position in this society such as the ability to vote with out interference and bullshyt laws meant to suppress it. There is a bigger battle that must be won here and losing a very vocal and effective senator seems like a loss that is not needed right now.
Fascists are punching us in the face and we keep saying "I sincerely apologize for being seen engaging in fisticuffs in public. I resign from my position. It's time for me to listen."
