thread is too real :salute: Being a R&B head myself I always say that most of these white vultures don't know a damn thing about that soulful R&B records from the 70s,80s,90s

Problem is, many of the young black kids now don't either.

And they have no desire to.

To them, Drake is core R&B.

If we wanna get real, the fall off of R&B is the main fall off of Black music in general.

I remember as a kid riding in the car with my parents , my parents playing his R&b mixtapes with artists such as Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat, Teddy Pendergrass, Guy, Levert and other R&b music from the 80's and 90's.They even played some older music such as Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Parliament and The Jackson 5.I remember as a kid loving both R&B and Hip Hop music but being slightly more into Hip Hop. But never would I think the state of R&b would be where it is today. And like the OP stated there are a lot of culture vultures perpetuating to be fans of black music but be besides maybe Usher, Beyonce R Kelly and a few other R&b singers cannot name any other singers in the genre. That's why sometimes you have people such as Chris Brown or R Kelly rappers.

Drake being their core R&B is sad :francis::mjcry:

Remember when the BET New Edition movie dropped and how shocked these young kids were about how great they were  I do hope that some of these young black artists will bring R&B back the mainstream forefront. I hate seeing these white artists bite these old school black artists and get all the recognition and accolades from the wave these old school artists created.

I'm 20 and I grew up on soul/rnb music, my parents were born in 1955 and 1970, they don't really mess with too much rap post 50 Cent:yeshrug:

They put me onto Jodeci, Guy, Isley Bros, O'Jays, and listening to Tom Joyner in the morning every morning did help. shyt I prolly listened to more classic rnb than classic hip hop

That pure soulful cookout music :blessed: Cacs just don't get it

No lies told. I think r&b was a lot easier for me to get into as a kid. Hip Hop you had to be a little older to understand. That's why NY Undercover is always one of my favorite shows, it put on so many of the r&b music that I loved. Because of r&b, I got into house music a lot as a kid too but I'm not sure what happened there, it's been Euro-fied.

That's why I wasn't too thrilled with Anderson .Paak's new single. I'm never one to say an artists should stick to one sound but I remember playing Am I Wrong at a jam,
shyt had everybody groovin :stylin:Especially when those horns come in :wow:

Cacs can't replicate that
