So I talked to my female friend to get more clarity about everything I discussed with yall.

She said that I am her only male friend, and that there are so many positives that come from hanging out with me compared to her girlfriends or the guys she's dating.

When she's with her girlfriends, she feels like they are very envious and competitive with her. If something good happens in her life, her female friends are not very supportive, or they have a passive-agressive comment that shows they are not happy for her. She says she has to bite her tongue sometimes when something good happens in her life because her girlfriends are insecure or will be upset about it. Before she became friends with me, she used to worry about her female friends abandoning her. But since she has met me, she doesn't worry about that anymore.

With people she's dating, she can't be too friendly all the time and has to focus more about being romantic and not platonic. Also they tend to get jealous and they try to control her somewhat. For example, she likes to dance salsa but the guys she's dating feel insecure and don't want her dancing with other guys, even though it's her passion and hobby.

When she hangs out with me, she days it's a lot more simple. She can be 100% open and be herself without worrying, she doesn't have to worry about me being envious or jealous, there is less pressure. She can relax and be herself without having to bite her tongue or cater to anyone. I don't have any ulterior motive so she doesn't have to hide anything. Also she can hang out with me without being put on a pedestal and that I don't hit on her or flirt with her. She admits that by having me nearby, I am also blocking guys from trying to get at her, she says she's annoyed by guys trying to ask her out all the time. The only time she can go to the gym without getting hit on is when she goes to the gym with me, and I'm serious about working out, training, and that's it.



We've been on a strictly platonic level of friendship for long enough that I just don't see her as a potential sexual or romantic partner. I see her on the same level as I would a female cousin, if that makes any sense.
