It's more about putting your foot down and setting boundaries. I have trouble with that with my female family members but have gotten better over the past few years. Even amongst them, for example my aunt trying to talk about my mother or sister she knows I won't tolerate it now and will end the conversation. Plus a level of independence allows me to act a certain way.
I think it is good because it delves into the psyche of a 'nice guy'.
I think many men in this thread know a few things about the nature of women and it's highlighted in the book.
- Attraction isn't a choice. It isn't logical.
- Trying to qualify yourself as to why you deserve sex won't work.
- Women don't owe you sex, nor do you owe them your time/attention/resources.
- Not bending over backwards is admirable. Even if a person doesn't necessarily like your stance they will respect you.
- The goal isn't to be a 'bad guy' but rather a man of purpose and driven by that rather than the whims of a woman.
- Women's emotions are very transient. A woman may say one thing in the moment, but that may change depending on their emotions. Look at actions.
If I recall correctly I think the book mentioned that Nice Guys have trouble in other aspects of life outside of relationships as a result of their behavior.
It's been several years since me listening to audiobook. I may listen to it again, but next on my queue is another book called Sex At Dawn on human sexuality, social biology, etc.
