Vol 1 is fire. It’s vol 3 that is trash
What’s crazy to me is Jay-Z has even acknowledged Vol. 1 shortcomings but it’s people who are arguing against it. Even though it has come from the person who created the album. I don’t understand it. :mindblown:

He brought it up in his HOF speech. That's how much it fukks with him. :heh:

To me the only truly bad song on that album is “i know what girls like”. Some ppl get it because of the sample but i just could never rock with it

I have 0 issues with sunshine..

I always liked Lucky Me, specifically the jazzy guitar riffs...chill record.

But Vol 1 has always been weak. Every few years it gets brought back up like its an undiscovered gem, lol. Nah nikka...we heard it when it dropped and it wasnt that good.

Vol 2 is the best of his volumes by far.

But does Vol 2 have the highs of Vol 1? Where's Vol 2's Where I'm From, A Million and One, You Must Love Me, Streets Is Watching and Imaginary Player?

the "commercial" records are just as dope. Although I would agree that Where Im from is probably a top 5 Jay record of all time...

Vol 2 is pretty much a flawless album to me

Jay is annoying with his fake embarrassed genius antics. Thats a promo tactic of his to make people go back and listen to his old shyt

He needs to shut the fukk up and admit that vol 1 is great, which he sort of did today

We stans do in fact know better

Attacking Sunshine is a fake Rap opinion that nobody actually believes but people want to repeat

If it was so bad why did The Game freestyle over it during his up and coming rise?

How can a Babyface feature be wack objectively?

How can a Foxy Brown feature be wack? During this time she had key features during that era with Blackstreet and Jay Z.
The new female Rap renaissance should bow at her feet.

Oh and the Rap classic 'Rockin It' by the Furious Four ' the song sampled

Imo it's almost Anti Hip Hop to try to downplay the song
:rudy:Don’t rewrite history Sunshine was wack back then and still is wack and I love Vol 1 but let’s not kid ourselves here

Same problem as Nas’ I am album...could’ve been their best but tried to make a bad boy album instead smh

At least I Am... was supposed to be a double album (with songs like "Fetus," "Blaze a 50," and "Drunk by Myself" on it) before it got bootlegged and cut down to one disc. Vol. 1 was supposed to sound like that which is why Jay has regrets about it now.

Crazy shyt is Sunshine would've been a better look as a Foxy solo with Babyface on it.

We saw what Jay was trying to do with it and it just didnt hit right + the video looked like it was directed by someone on LSD. Prime example of thinking you're getting a Hype Williams masterpiece when he was clearly experimenting with visuals that weren't meant for that particular artist. Leave that shyt for Busta or Missy.

With that said, the song felt like something Foxy could've lead an album with easily but Jay on it was forgettable at best. They couldve come with something harder in the same vain as Charlie/Ghost with "Stand Up," which will was a RZA standout to close out the 90s
