Any rapper (or celebrity for that matter, in any field) that died at that level of fame would be revered on that level. Which is silly IMO but it's human nature.
He was a gimmick, the music didn’t age well he was not as talented as Big and Pac, wasn’t around long enough, wasn’t involved in a coastal war involving shootings, robberies, gang wars, etc
