I agree. I was real close to dropping that shyt until Alexandria Daddario and the famous panning no cuts shot:ufdup:

It's just that the pacing is so slowwwwwwww compared to current TV shows, I can see why people are unsettled or put off by it. Good pay off though:ehh:

If it wasn't for the excessive overating here I would have quit season 1 too. I don't get hard for males so Matthew mcconaughey while being a good actor (more times than bad) wasn't enough to keep me engrossed. Pre shootout episode only the dialogue, sense of wonder and direction saved it, goin to have to agree with the racist :francis:

I wonder if he said he loved the show people here would still be saying things like "Stick to movies QT." or it would be more like "See, this man knows what he's talking about because he's a director and he validated my opinion"

Tarantino aint never lied. That show is extremely overrated, especially the first season, and after season 2 they shouldn't bother with Season 3.

He should have finished the first season.

In fairness to him I thought the first episode was boring too.

I actually watched the whole of season one and can confirm...that shyt is straight boring. The only thing that really gets you going is trying to see how deep the rabbit hole goes, because aside from that it's pretty boring. One of the most boring series I've ever seen, and I only watched season one because:

1- The protagonist duo was an interesting combination of personalities. Normal cop vs Obsessed cop
2- The case was interesting.

Everything else was just...meh.

Episode 1 of TD IS a bit slow. But Episode 4 is one of the best TV episodes in any series of all time.

Yeah... but...

Those two main points for you viewing the show still wasnt enough for you to consider season 1 interesting? Those two points were the main reasons why I even watched the show.

Those two main points only worked for me until I finally saw the season finale. :francis: Which is what made the series not so interesting to me. Basically it was interesting because I couldn't tell what was gonna happen, rather than the script being "so well written" or anything.

It was like watching a strung out version of "There Will Be Blood"...which is hard to enjoy because it's too realistic. So the shorter these kinds of films are (for me at least) the better 'cause you gotta pack the not so boring parts closer together.

---By the way, I'm using the term realistic here to mean "boredom and frustration that can be found in real life depicted in film without any insight and expansion on the author's part."---

I really can see how a lot of people wouldn't rock with this series. Because to me this type of series only works for people who're highly curious not about human interactions but by cases and human obsession.
