nah if you watch QT abandons a lot of the grindhouse elements like halfway into it. The editing and style became a lot more traditional at that point.

yeah, it seemed to lose the grindhouse quality at certain points. rodriquez committed fully to the grindhouse style, tarantino merely made a tarantino movie which naturally have some grindhouse elements but only as homages, not real constraints on the movie.
