It wasn't bad really as much as Planet Terror was really dope. Tarantino should have focused more on Stuntman Mike because Kurt Russell killed it in that movie.

Yeah Kurt Russel pretty much carried that movie...it was dope whenever he was on the screen and trash when he wasn't

Always hated that shyt. Who the fukk wants to be subjected to listening to females cackle endlessly for 45+ straight minutes. I know QT praises dialog in his movie but that shyt had me wanting to slit my wrist.

Stunts and hoes, so it was just one long ass sizzle reel. I ain't mad at him :yeshrug:

I am mad, however, that he didn't read the assignment Robert Rodriguez gave him when they agreed to make a couple of grindhouse flicks :comeon:

I actually prefer it over Inglorious Basterds which I know most will disagree with.

The reason why I prefer it is it seems these days with every Tarantino film he's trying to make the most epic, career defining film of his career. It's like Kill Bill, Basterds and Django are all trying to be his Once Upon a Time in the West. I'm getting tired of his bloated, self-indulgent "masterpieces".

Death Proof is the opposite of that. It's a trashy, throwaway film. It has no pretensions of being a classic or career defining. Is it a great film? Not at all, but it feels a little looser and more instinctive than Basterds. It's closer to his 90s films in tone than his recent Sergio Leone/Corbucci homages.

:salute: Perfect post. Sums up why I really didn't feel Basterds as much as everyone else seemed to. Django has me a little underwhelmed at the moment for the same reasons. I loved Kill Bill though..

the thing was that it was supposed to be a GRINDHOUSE flick like exploitation and gore nonstop, however he made it too damn dialouge heavy the premise was cool but we really didnt need all that in a grindhouse film, maybe if he tried to do like a hammer horror film or something along the lines of SHAFT it might have been his best flick
